This spring i will be starting my very first outdoor grow and have some questions pretaining to the ph levels. So i hear the ideal range for soil ph is 6.2-6.6 i heard that adding domolite lime to my soil mix will help me maintain a proper soil ph is this true? also when i go to give my plants nutes do i add the nutes to the water and ph it to 7.0 then water my plants till i get runoff? i would like information on the proper way to feed/water autos in 3 gallon dirt bags any help clarifying this will be greatly appreciated thanks

Your ph should be ok with th added lime but keep checking it. Are you growing autos or photos? Its important to know before the proper advice can be given, soil, nutes and so on.Give us a little more detail and the afn members will be more than glad to help.Welcome and good growing.

check runoff often, PH water before and after nutes, so you see what happening and why you need to do it.. and happy growing

Welcome to AFN. Growing outdoors is very different from growing indoors. Because of periods of rain it's impossible to set the plants up on a regular feeding schedule. If you get a rainy week you may not have an opportunity for feed them for quite awhile. So rather than relying on feeding liquid nutes it's advisable to add a fair amount of composted manure, worm castings or guano to your soil mix. That will be your main source of nutrients and you can do supplemental feedings as the weather allows. Do add dolomite lime to your mix and pH it to around 6.2 - 6.3. When you do get an opportunity to feed, mix your nutrients with your water and pH it to 6.2 - 6.3 as well.

Thanks for the info. I will be using fox farms ocean forest and light warrior in a 50/50 mix with added domolite lime. is this a good enough mix from germination to harvest? as far as the nutes go ill be using fox farms grow big, big bloom, and tiger bloom. I want to use both the direct soil germination and the tiered method to see witch is easier for me personally. I dont plan on feeding for the first couple weeks then will start at the 1/4 feedings. Strains are Afghan Kush Ryder and Diesel Ryder For pest control i had planed on using Shultz Garden safe insecticidal soap http://www.gardensafe.com/Products-and-Solutions/Insecticide/Insecticidal-Soap-Insect-Killer.aspx as for any potential probelms with deer or rabbits i am going to be using the Liquid Fence product. So as far as feeding goes i measure out the amount of nutes im going to use add it to my water, then i PH it to 6.2-6.3 and water?
