We are considering growing a 3-5 acre outdoor autoflower seed crop in southern California this fall. Our location is very secluded, so i am not too concerned about pollen drift.
We are considering treating plants with STS in the field (i.e. spray every 20th row or so) and let them open pollinate. We would cull out any weak plants in these rows of course. We would have to spray at night, which is not a problem. Any thoughts on this?
We may have access to a greenhouse to grow and treat the pollen donors and then transport them to the field in 7+ gallon pots.
If we went this route, how many pollen donors would we need per acre, assuming we planted at 4,500 plants / acre?
