Indoor Noob question on what soil pots for a fairly small grow space. Suggestions wanted!

Hello. well I have a fairly small grow spacewhat
i measures was 17" x 23" x 33. (LxWxH). Small micro grow area. I was thinking of growing 2 ladies at the same time and guessing I would have to use 1 gallon pots. From you guys expertise will I be wasting my time in this area? what will be the best to make this space work. Thanks

I am stacking 2 sterlite totes 1 upside down on top of the other. The Demesnions listed on their web site are

16.88 " H x 18.75 " W x 27.0 " L

Anyone? I was thinking 2 plants in 1 gallon containers or 1 plant in a 2 gallon container. What do the pro's think?

I would go bigger than 1 gal if you can for two or one 3 gal for one big lady.:smokebuds:
