Hi, I was wondering if a 200 w COB led would be sufficient for a micro grow tent 50 X 50 X 100 cm, any help would be appreciated

Need more info on light, but when microgrowing I think qb or a ts series Mars. But if you get the mars you will need to remove driver and place outside of tent or cab. Cobs will keep a small area too hot ime.

200 is overkill for that space, so you'd need to be able to dim it. With only 3 feet of height things are going to be tricky unless you are experienced training your plants. Good luck!

Hazy has it right, above. 200W actual power is on the high side for your space, BUT It's hard to talk about lights based on advertised watts, since lower end light manufacturers lie by a lot. They count watts based on irrelevant comparisons to obsolete technology, which is not how watts are measured at all.

Yep lie.. or calculating based on 3 watt diodes 100 would make a 300w light... anytime a product is "just as good" or "just like"

Go get the original...

Your running a pretty small tent, height is going to be your biggest issue. A quantum board would be the best choice to combat your height issue, about 135w is as small as they get. My math says that's still overkill for your tent footprint, but could be dimmed to compensate.

As above cobs rock, but do produce some heat, and are several inches thick with the heat sinks.

If possible I'd bump up the tent size to 60x60 (2x2) and go to a height of what... 152cm? That's roughly 6 foot. A 135w QB would be powered closer, and give you some vertical room.

Thanks for the info guys, yeah I haven't gone for an expensive light, one off eBay, states the minimum is 50 watts so kind of thought they would lie and the actual would be somewhere in the middle!!

I agree with the others that it will be too much light for such a small tent. Check out www.cobshop.net. They are outstanding lights built by user @BigSm0. I like mine very much.
