I have two autos that are about 9 weeks old. One started flowering about week 4 but the other one has never flowered.
I had them on 24/0 for the first three weeks then I switched to 20/4 for the rest of the grow.
It seems to be vegging nicely, and it has a handful of single female pistils scattered around its branches, but it never took off flowering.
Being an autoflower seed, does it have a limited lifespan?
Can I leave it vegging for 3+ months and then try flipping the lights to 12/12 and see if it flowers, or is there a chance that it will be genetically defective and hermie or just die of old age before it can go through the flowering period?

Sounds like you've got one with a dominant photo gene, will probably have to flip to 12/12 to get her to go. Depending on how far your other is from harvest, I'd probably wait and flip after the other is down.
It happens, with some breeders more than others.

Like Arthur said flip it when the others done for the best results I've grown lots of photos an autos but in all the autos I've ever grown an I mean probably over a hundred for sure I've never seen one be a photo in my own grows but recently seen this a lot more on afn .

Thanks, all.
So, even if they're acting like photos, don't they still have the auto genes that give them a limited life span?
I read that you couldn't use autos as mother plants or take clones because of their genetic clock.
If I wait until I harvest its companions, it will have been growing for about 14 weeks, so can it live another 9+ weeks to complete a flowering?

I've grown most of my autos on 12/12 just because I usually have a photo alongside...reduced yield but reduced elec bill too. Growing just for myself, I'm not out to break any records...just provide myself a variety.

I'm also stuck with the same problem at 53 days with Amnesia Fem Automatic...

I'm just not sure exactly what to expect for overall growth times from Amnesia fem auto it only says 70-80 days flowering time and not the whole grow, and it's my first one on this strain...

I'm flipping it 24hrs dark/ 12/12 for a week to see what happens and will leave it on 16/8 to not loose too much yield, I'm just crossing my fingers....)it won't veg back).

I have had a similar scenario: started an auto grow on Feb 7. 4 of the girls harvested in 78 days excellent quality smoke:) However the other 4 did not go into flower until I flipped them to 12/12 now they are in the first week of flower at day 98. They will likely go another 3 weeks or so.... Additionally they are 4-5 feet tall. My question is now that they are flowering can I flip back to a 18/6 to increase yield?

It's a risk, and, since it act like a photos there is a big chance, I was thinking of the same thing for my girls but instead gave her 13/11...

The unknown variable is the dominance or even existence of the Photoperiod gene? Or it could be a shipping/packaging error and they are not autos at. They seem to be nugging up fine now so likely leave them 12/12.
