Hi everyone,

Thought I'd drop a line and say Hello. I'm in the planning process of doing my first ever grow this fall... wife finally gave me the okay after a trip to Denver and her finding out she really like edibles! I'm not originally from the area I live now -- so, have very limited connections --- figure the best way to get quality bud is to grow my own. I not a daily smoker - will normally vape 2 or 3 times a week, I figure 2 or 3 ounces of bud for vaping and maybe 2 ounces for edibles(butter & tinctures) would do us for the year. I'll do a big post here - and, will do some questions in the appropriate subsection.

Growing background: Have been growing psychodelic mushrooms off and on for the last year, and have pretty extensive back ground of vegetable gardening(including starting from seed).

Here is my plans so far:

Grow Space: GrowTent in very large closet(worst thing is it's outer wall is right above the front door of the house, so low odor will be a must!)

I have a 3' w x 1.5' d x 5' tall - Lighthouse Hydro Growtent --- I had this from starting tomatoes and peppers for my garden. I plan on making a few updates to it --- need to change out the 3 connector corners on the tent - they are plastic and have cracked from use over the years. Planning on swapping our for some metal ones.

Odor Control: I am planning on going 6" inline with carbon filter in the tent. Is there any certain brands of fans or carbon cans you recommend? I also had a thought about running flex hose from the tent the length of the inside of the closet - approximately 15' with the flex hose connected to a large rubber tote with a OnaBlock inside with 1.5" holes drilled all over the 4 sides for it to exhaust out the tote as additional Odor Control. Would that be a bad idea exhausting back into the closet the tent is located in? I might be able to go up through the ceiling, running a flex pipe to a vent on the end of the house, but don't want to cut the drywall until I'm sure I can grow well enough to be worth while.

Lighting: I am planning on doing a DIY Cob LED. I'm thinking going with CXB3590 in 3500k. For my tent size - would you go 2 or 3? I also have a Hydrofarm 125a/w CFL with hood in 6500k if I should start with 6500k first.

Seed Selection: With low odor being my priority, here are the seeds I plan on getting
1) Mephisto Northern Cheese Haze and Fantasmo Express.
2) Northern Lights -- still debating on seed bank - Vision looks interesting
3) Nirvana Blue Mystic

Any other recommendations?

Nutes: Undecided at this time - will need to keep researching

Growing Media: Debating between Soil(Fox Farm is carried locally) or trying my hand at CoCo Coir. Recommendation for first grow?

Fox farm would be more forgiving than coco coir. With coir its important to have your nutrients and feed scheduled dialed in and plants will need more attention to pH and micro nutrients.

I'll let others comment on lighting but 2 should be fine from the knowledge I've obtained.

As for nutrients are you going more towards organic or synthetic ?

Thanks for joining ! Hear from you soon

Don't exhaust the ona bucket into the tent, instead leave it outside the tent . And use Ona Pro. Keep in mind that the tent will pull the air from the room that has been neutralized by ona. There is controversy on how much it effects buds quality and cure. I advise against it. Your carbon scrubber should be just fine for smell. You could always have a second carbon filter outside the tent with no ducting and just pull the air in the room and circulate/purify it.

The strains you have chosen will be considerably less smelly than say AK47 or Skunk#1. If that helps

Thanks for the warm welcome. As for Nutes, while I'm a little more on the hippy side --- I would be fine with Synthetic as I think it might be a little easier to get dialed in.
- mind answering a couple more questions?

1) Would you go 1 or 2 plants in my tent size?
2) I've seen a couple didn't grows mention having a humidifier and dehumidifier. How important is the dehumidifier and what size would you recommend for my size tent?

2 plants would fill out nicely in that space.

I'd run your space with just the lights and fans and maybe throw a few vegetative house plants in there and stick your hygrometer and run for 24 hours to get a idea on temperature and humidity. You most likely will not run into any issues or have to use any humidifying units. Humidity can be adjusted a lot just by misting walls. (Think mushrooms)

Also with the headspace you have (5ft) your girls aren't cramped and the humidity will likely self regulate. (This varies based on location but generally speaking)
