Hi guys, il be setting up my second ever indoor grow very soon.
First grow was in a 4x4 tent with 600w hps in a vented hood.
I grew 9 think differents in 20l airpots but unfortunately they all hermied and had lock out and other issues so the grow was a disaster. I had no idea what i was doing with watering etc.
Last summer a friend and I did a successful outdoor grow and will be doing one again this summer and ive decided to do an indoor grow in a tent as well.

I have basic knowledge of growing and nutes/ hydro vs soil etc now and ma better prepared but would love some advice from experienced guys.

My new grow will be in a 4x8 (120x240x200cm) tent with 2 x 600w hps in vented hoods.
I will be using a scrog and topping to increase yeild.
I will have one fan cooling the hoods and one exhausting the tent.
My goal yeild is 30ozs dry, so 1/2 gram per watt.

My questions are as follows.

1) what is the best soil to use ? Ocean farm not an option. Dont have time for making my own super soil.

2) how many plants in what size pots? Was thinking of 10-14 x 3-5 gallon pots to try and get 2-3 oz per plant in a scrog.

3)what are good bloom nutes and yeild increases to use? Im going to use high quality molasses and cal mag with r/o water as a base.

Thanks in advance of your replies guys.

Hey Arxhie, yeah the oirdoor grow really made me want to grow again indoors to see what i could do.
Ocean farm dont ship to to my neck of the woods. I think biobizz is what ill go for.

I thought r\o water because im afraid of using tap water incase of chlorine etc, the water where I live is not very good. I have an r\o filter already so not too big of a fuss.

Any advice on how many plants i should use to try to get 30oz? Also any strain advice? I think im decided on mephisto bit am also tempted by dutxh passion automazar but i think they take a good 4 weeks longer so not ideal. Im looking dor something thay finishes in 70ndaus or so.

Being that this is just your second grow, I don't think you should expect 2-3 ounces per plant. One question I ask when somebody wants a medium recommendation, is how much time can you give the little ladies?

I'm tying to compensate for my inexperience by choosing a high yielding mephisto strain and using plenty of light and 20litre pots.
I would like to do soil as its less time consuming than coco which dries out very fast and needs very frequent watering.

Im confident that i can consistently feed them properly and i understand how flushing works and how most people over water and over fertilize so im not going into it blind. What do you think is realistic yeild from 10-12 plants under 1200w hps in 20litre pots?

I would use biobizz lightmix or plagron lightmix. They are proven to work well with autos.
12 plants in 20 litre pots sounds ok. But slightly on the tight side.
4 well grown autos fill a 4x4 so 8 plants if your nearly dialed in.
You should check out biotabs. They make life easy for a new grower. No mixing nutrients or guessing amounts. Water only from start to finish.

If i had an 8x4 tent and yeild was my priority i would go for autopots 8 pot system and coco. Going to cost about 150 quid plus you need a ph and ec pen.
But yeilds are really impressive and you can leave the plants for days at a time.

Most if not all high yeilding strains will take 80-100 days

The options are endless mate good luck with whatever you decide

Thanks for the reply mate, ive considered using a wilma system with coco but trying to keep costs down for the first run. Im leaning towards soil in large pots with basic feeding and plenty of light.

Do you have any experience growing mephisto strains? What are your favorite strains to grow?

I think Archie & Sanguine has it spot on for you! :) Plagron light mix soil, 12-15L pots, 8 plants, biotabs [emoji108] if not advanced nutrients Sensi Grow & Bloom....these are PH perfect so no messing with a PH meter [emoji4] don't over crowd your space if your plants have no where to grow expect a shitty yield.

Are you sure on the SCROG?
As a newbie i would advise against doing this until you are more familiar with your plants coz once they are in the scrog net there's no moving them for inspections or flushing.

Last but not least......Get more fans, you need fans that are moving the air around the room not just through it, stagnant air will cause you all sorts of problems come flowering so aviod high humidity (the more fans the better)

Just checking you're growing seeds from dutch passion and not the ones that hermied last time? Lol

Thanks for the reply. Im not 100% set on scrog. I will look into biotabs and see what they are about.

I think they hermied due to my own poor growing skills lol i was growing dutch passion think different at the time.
I will certainly have fans for moving air inside tent also.

As what @sanguine said you could fill the 4x8 with an 8 pot Autopot system. I filled my 4x4 with 4.
