Live Stoners Newbie-first grow- 2x3

Hey guys new to the site and haven't grown since I was a teenager. Decided I was going to start a small 2x3 auto grow since I had a huge cabinet in the basement not really being used... currently waiting for my girls to push throught the soil.. planted them in root farm hydro grow mix yesterday in 4 gal pots. Germinated for a couple days two seeds had nice tails and one didnt split but I decided to plant it anyways hoping itll go.. just trying to get the environment stabilized as yesterday I was having issues with too much heat and vow humidity.. turned my extraction fan up a bit and added a small cold mist humidifier this morning hoping itll drop the temps a bit more and raise the humidity.. seeds are; feminized love potion auto, fem northern lights x big bud, and the one that didnt split is lemon skunk.. attaching a few pics of the set up.. let me know what you think(I'll take harsh criticism if I'm doing anything wrong please let me know) decided to run the carbon filter outside of the unit so I can use the top shelf for drying and keep the bottom growing in s perpetual grow. My thinking is I can cut a hole or add a duct to the upper cabinet before the extraction fan to pull thr smell from both units at once when I start to dry.. carbon filter is in a box on top of cabinet with the top open to vent air into rafters.. hoping this does well with the smell or I'll have to reverse the filter and exhaust outside.. but I'll have to move the cabinet to the other side of the basement if I have to do that

Thanks man.. was/still am a little Leary of the carbon filter outside.. hope it does ok with the smell when the girls start flowering and for drying.. also I have super hard tap water (anywhere from 8 to almost 10 pH) other than just letting it sit out for a day or so and adding ph down what else are people doing to treat hard water before watering plants

It isn't a problem i have ever had,,apart from using bottled or r/o, i bereft of ideas :smoking: ille tag @Mañ'O'Green he will know the answers

@CaptainKush88 Welcome to AFN . When you state you have hard water you do not give us the number in PPM. You need an EC meter for that information. Water up to 200 PPM is usable with most nutrients lines and GH has one designed to run up to 300 PPMs. If your water is harder than that you need to blend in some RO or distilled water to get it down. The numbers you did give us are the PH readings. The municipality I live in has both well and surface water inputs and the PH will run 8 - 9 when coming from the wells and ~ 7 when coming from the surface water. I use a big 35 gallon top off tank and treat the water by aerating and adjusting the PH down to about 6.5. Then I give a final adjustment in the reservoir after mixing in the nutrients. I have the big top off tank because I used to grow DWC with three 10 gallon reservoirs. The top off tank lets you aerate your water which helps to eliminate chlorine and precipitate calcium carbonate; this helps stabilize the PH.

Just a thought do you know if your water contains chlorine or chloramines? Municipal water treated for microbes with chlorine and ammonia contains chloramines and need to be treated with ascorbic acid to neutralize it. Chlorine will dissipate with aeration.

small space growerz unite! heya @CaptainKush88 and to afn! that'z a neat lil space u got there & me luv what u've done with it i too grow in roughly a 2x3 space, but in jus 3L potz, so a bit smaller scale, lol and well, i hate to tell ya, but once ur girlz get grown, i think ur gonna find three of em in 4 gal potz to be a bit of a tight squeeze as far as what to do with ur water, ya, leave it sit out, but get urself a cheap lil air pump & airstonez from walfart to aerate it...i meself uze dist water & keep one or two jugz bubblin 24/7 great commune here with spring in the air & anything u need, jus give a holler and oh, if at all possible, u may wanna consider makin a donation to the site, to help keep it 100% community driven & owned...jus sayin...

Thanks man.. will have to get something to figure out my ppm. Water definitely has chlorine and chloramines.. I did boil my first batch of water and let if sit for 24-48 hrs before adding some ph down and brought it down to about 6.5.. I have mixed a batch of nutrients for other house plants and when I mixed them it did being the ph down to 6.5 without adding and ph down... thanks for the replys folks appreciate the help

well... got my environment stabilized at about 25-27 degrees Celsius and humidity is between 40-50%.. still nothing from the original lemon skunk seed so I germinated (just in a grass of water) another and tossed it directly in the soil with the tap root facing down.. here are the other two girls on day 2

You can have a bunch of fun with a 2x3...I've harvested over 5 oz this month out of mine....have fun!
