Hello Fellow Growers! Just wondering if you've got any tips or advice for me on my first grow.

I have two computer fans for ventilation - 120mm intake and 80mm exhaust with external carbon filter on top.

I'm growing in a uninsulated garage in the UK and my temperatures range from 10°C - 23°C
>> (soon to be adding a oil radiator by my intake fan to help this.)

I'm using a 200w dual spectrum large CFL as my main light also with cool & warm white LED strips as side-lighting.

I'm using multi-purpose compost as my soil as I was rushed into planting them early.. (I know this isn't ideal but my plants have grown really well in the compost with no discoloration or curling at the minute

I'm starting off with the single plant (Big Buddha Auto Blue Cheese) and it is currently halfway through the 3rd week and going strong. (In work at the moment but will add photos later on)

Haven't added any nutes yet because I have read so much about 'nute burn' from having nutrients in the soil already.

So basically just wondering if any y'all got any tips or advice for a newish Grower.

Kind regards & All the best.

××Forgot to mention the Bucket itself××

My bucket is 80L and completely covered on the inside in Mylar

I will post pictures of my baby when I get home to give you a little more info about the Bucket and Plant ect..

Thanks again and happy growing!

I'm pretty sure I've covered the basics but I'm just wondering if any of you would do anything differently to try and get the best yield possible..

Hi swaca, your description paints a picture that both answers a lot of questions and asks some. one plant in a garage makes me firstly, think of ....concentrating your available light by means of reflectors. is the plant in a corner? if so either paint the corner walls flat white or blue tack up some aluminium foil (with the dull side outward, not the shiny side). maybe you've got a grow tent, in which case no need to bother.
multi purpose compost can get a bit claggy and anaerobic if there is nothing added like perlite; if just straight compost, then you will have to watch your watering; underdo it, especially at the early stages; you want those roots to be encourage to develop and go in search of water.
keep the pot insulated from the concrete floor, with a bit of polystyrene, so as to prevent the compost being kept too cool when the temps are down around 10c. a picture will paint a thousand words but I am just about to write a questions post including the digital signature of photos (paranoia is both a side-effect as well as a necessary evil- just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not watching you-name that song!)
hope these starter tips will be of help; there's bound to be more soon, but a picture of what you've got going on will prompt more appropriate advice.
over and out

Hello Oldbie,

Thanks for your reply!
My plant is currently Sat in a Large 80L Bucket with Mylar covering the whole of the inside.

Trying to keep my grow as stealth as possible (because of noisy neighbours)

My one concern is the one you pointed out Mate to do with my soil..

I'm trying to keep watering down to a minimum because I am not using perlite. I have mixed the compost with a few stones (from the garden center) to try and help with drainage ect..

I always water from the bottom to try and help root development. My only concern is that for how old my plant is it is still quite short and broad with red appearing on the stems >> wondering if this is due to cold temps or over watering??

Managed to find an image which I took a few days ago to try and help with tips/advice ect..

The other small plant growing next to it is now removed and re-potted.

You got the strain I saved my one for favorites strain to grow. I got to see this award winning strain you grow and harvest. One tip I can offer is try keeping the environment warm from 70 to 80 Fahrenheit. Good luck!!

Thanks for your reply!!
As they say great minds think alike [emoji1]
I had a look of many strains, when I found the Big Buddha Blue Cheese Auto it ticked all the boxes for me, as it's my first grow I understand autos are quite tolerant of the cold and bugs ect.

I'm waiting to buy an oil radiator to help with boosting temperatures. Also thinking of adding a fan speed controller, would that help with temperatures?
