Starting my 2nd grow soon, and want to do better this time around! Can anyone recommend the right nutes, for each stage? Also, if any can be homemade, that's cool! I need to save money, as I wasted some on the wrong stuff on the 1st grow! lol

Forgot to say, using Fox Farm Ocean Forrest on new grow!

You may want to change that to Happy Frog if you can...

There are people who do okay with it...but it's generally considered too
hot for autos and that's BEFORE you get into their quality control and pH issues...

My 2 cents.

Happy Frog has been very good to me though.

What Trap mentions is something to look out for... but I've ran ONLY FFOF and haven't had any real issues with the soil. Just be sure to not feed before 25 days or you may risk burning them. Also, I've been adding Dolomite Lime to the OF mix to help stabilize and maintain the PH from the start - the stock buffering is not as good. Otherwise FFOF is a great soil, just a few things to look out for when using it, as Trap mentioned - and I highly recommend the lime because PH can defienetly get out of whack if you don't add it.

On the nutes there are so many different ones to choose from.
For a basic concept of nutes, you divide your grow cycle into 2 separate ones: Vegetative (aka grow) and Flowering (aka bloom).

You will want to look into nutes that serve the 2 main cycles. Veg nutes will be fed while your plants are getting big and vegging, while bloom nutes will be used once they start to flower or bloom. This separation will help provide the correct type of nutrients that the plant needs at different times in it's life. There are many many options to chose from, but many brands offer full lineups. Meaning they provide the 2 basic cycle nutes veg and bloom, and many companies also offer additional nutes that help bridge the gaps (which for your first grow I would reccomend not getting to carried away - Keep it simple!).

Veg nutes will have a good amount of Nitrogen, and lesser of P & K. Bloom nutes will have higher P-K Values and less N. This is because the plants use more nitrogen during Veg, and more P&K during bloom, so the ratios are adjusted for each cycle.

The crazy thing about nutes is that they highly depend on on your plant and your soil, so some people may use 6-7 nute products while others may only use 2 or 3. There are so many combinations that work for growing, so grab some munchies, light up a doobie, search the forum, start reading, and DIG IN.

There are so many products that I hate recommending nutes for growers. But you mentioned you were looking for cheaper? Check out Kelp4less.com... I've been running their nutes for the past 2 grows, and I will probably continue to run them for many many more. I've really liked their lineup (so have my plants). Grow Pack & Bloom Pack mainly all you need. Water soluble powders, so you make your own concentrates with their powder instead of receiving products already mixed with water. I only give em half strength as a max for my plants, they are pretty strong and can be easy to burn if you dont.

Hi bubblekarma im interested in the kelp4less packs but ive got few questions i can't seem to find the answer to so hopefully you can help me. Do you have to use it with RO water or will tap water left out for 24hrs do? and do you have to ph it before feeding the plants? because if it's yes to both i might aswell stick with my biobizz nutes for now. Thanks

What's up man? I've never done either with these K4L nutes. I never use RO water, only tap that is set out for a day or more. I also don't PH check it, and have no PH problems in my grows. However I do use dolomite lime in my soil to better buffer PH differences, so it would still be a good idea to monitor your soil PH to make sure everything is good. I really do like these nutes. And I tell you, the Extreme Blend foilair spray mix is THE BOMB. I use it in between feed days and my plants are SUPER healthy!

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'll do what I can to answer them for you!

Thanks mate that's really kind of you. Do you make your own soil? as i dunno if it will work aswell with soil i bought from my local grow shop and just looking on K4L website to maybe add it to my soil but the minimum order for dolomite is 10lbs which is crazy especially as im in middle east so shipping is very expensive and difficult to find these ingredients here.
Do you use anything else apart from grow/bloom packs and extreme blend foliar spray?
