I have an Secret Jardin 8x8 tent. It has metal tent poles with plastic fittings that are used to join corners and struts etc. Its not a bad tent, but I feel the poles and plastic could be better for a larger tent. I think I even read a post once where someone had a secret jardin tent collapse.

Are there any good ways to increase the strength of roof support of a tent?

If you really feel the need, double up what they call "handling tubes" and at least you will have twice as much strength to hang whatever. I had several Secret Jardines earlier on and all of them hung well and stayed up for the duration.

I googled SJ handling tube and I found some and they look like what I already have lots of that came with the 8x8. Besides the 2 structural tubes/poles that go right across the ceiling I have several of the tubes for hanging things from the ceiling. Is the handling tubes basically what comes with a stock tent package already?

Seems to be the case. I don't think they called then handling tubes when I owned their tents. Another thought, if you think negative pressure will negatively impact your tent, I run two bungee cords for each wall top to bottom (properly spaced) in my 4x4 and not only does that somewhat help with the pressure, but I hang my clip on fans to them and wrap cords/cables around them, thermometers etc., if needed. 8x8 you will want more than two per wall. Just spit balling a bit.

Ha, interesting. Never thought of the neg air pressure being an issue, but I have nice strong neg pressure and the walls are sucking in and that would put a load on the frame too. Thanks for the tip.

I honestly don't think your tent will have strength problems. I've had a shit-load of tents with no probs.

With negative air pressure, my tent would suck in and press against plants..to over come this I took 2 adjustable shower curtain rods and placed then about 2 feet from bottom lengthwise. No more tent sucking up to the plants, plus added rigidity
