Nothing for a bit
Hello coco growers I have a problem I have been unable to nail down. I have asked a great many people with some great info and suggestions but at no avail. The problem has stuck with me. So here we go lol. I have plants in coco as the coco drys the plants start to claw. Looking like they are over watered. If I water them right away this will go away and the plants again look happy. So lets say this happens every five days. Well it will slowly shorten 1 day at a time to I am watering everyday but it is still doing this droopy look even when the coco is constantly fully saturated. So I have tried the following things. Drying my coco out. This almost killed my plants at the time. I then tried flushing assuming it was salt build up. This also almost killed my plants. I have tried feeding less.I have tried feeding more lol. All bad results. I currently feed around 0.2 ec or less every day with 30% to 40% run off. The ec reading of my coco testing both run off and the method of root zone test supplied by canna coco showed the ec was some where below 0.2 ec lol I have a blue lab truncheon and it doesn't read below 0.2 so beyond that number I have no clue how low it really is. Oh I forgot if i transplant the plant to a larger pot the problem goes away from 1 to 2 weeks depending on size of container. Everything points to salt build up but no solution or tests match this or any other theory I have had.I have also contacted canna coco company and asked for help. They stopped msging me after I gave them the test results lol I am assuming they thought I was being a dick. Any help suggestions or theories will be welcome and if I haven't tried them I will :D

If your testing your ph and ec at runoff and everything is good..lol idk..is it jus with those genetics?..could be unstable..did u flush coco b4 use?...im jus throwin it out there bro..try diff beans in diff coco..

If you are only watering your Coco every 5 days that is your problem! Coco needs to stay saturated and never dry.

I do use bennies yes and yep everything ph and ec wise seems to be in order. It seems to happen no matter what I'm growing. I don't flush the coco b4 use as it says not to and when I have tried flushs it almost killed the plants. Thank you for your suggestions though :pass:

That was only a few times I would let the coco dry right out. Witch was because I thought I was over watering from the droopy symptoms I was getting. Right now I am keeping the medium constantly saturated and the problems still slowly developed. Thanks for your response though. :pass:

once you let it dry it strange things happen with potassium ions. You also really need photographs if you want someone to chime in on the clawing or other deficiencies.

Are you at 100% coco?

I'm in 70% coco 30% perlite. For sure. Its not really just the grow I am doing now. I have been having these issues for about 4 years now and have eliminated almost all usual suspects that cause this kind of issue. I have picked the brains of some of the best growers on here and outside of this site over the years. Only thing for sure is there's something wonkey messing with my roots. I basically just throw out a hail marry every now and then and see if someone has had similar issues. I will put pics up tonight though so you can see my pain lol :p Oh and for some basic info. Ph is 5.9ish Ec is below 0.2 temps are 80F with 50% humidity grown under 700 watts of led. Recently transplanted to 7gal fabric pots. about 12 weeks in veg strain is Skywalker kush by reserva privada (DNA) night time temps are about 67F to 72F.. Ec of waterings is 0.3 ec ( Oh before anyone jumps on this, feeding more burns my plants and show nitrogen abundance)

One theory I have had is its not so much a salt build up but more salt then the plant likes if that makes sense. I have always had to feed crazy low amounts. like 0.1 Ec to start and up to a max of 0.3 to 0.5 at the highest. The only thing that rules this out is that flushing did nothing to correct these issues when I have tried it. Unless for some reason the coco is being super fussy and refusing to let go of the build up.
