New Grower my rrf smells exactly the same as my last grow of c99

Sooooooo I'm not sure wat people mean wen they say "o this strain has a more diesel smell and this strain has a more citrus smell". Lol

how many days in are you? smell doesnt develop till proper budding sets in so they may smell the same up till a point then develop different charachteristics. ime also in a jar after a cure it can get much stronger or change a bit.
i know what you mean to an extent though, i cant pick out as many things as most reviews up on here would but i think thats just me or it will build in time like appreciating wine or stuff like that.
i can smell clear differences though, even different phenos in the same strain. i have two easyryders going and one smells fruity and a bit sour while the other smells like garbage, kinda meaty musty and weird.

im not sure but usually you could smell during the grow too, just sometimes it will change as it dries etc.

maybe you just got a pheno of the RRF that smells very like C99. you can usually get a few types of the same strain from autos so theres the possibility of a fuel like one, a fruity like one etc. depending on the strains used to breed.
i grew rrf last time and all i got was a kinda fruity smell

just had a look at a strain review of c99

C-99 is well known for being super potent with a mild citrus or tropical aroma.

that would fit with what i remember from my rrf might just be that?

How many days did your rrf go before harvest ?

i took mine at around 66 days i think, theres a grow log in my signature there if youre interested. i chopped too early and ended up with fluffy small buds.
andy botwin on here took his at 65 days and they were definitely done so theres a bit of variation. post up pics to get some estimates from people maybe.

I was thinking ill check the trichomes with my Illuminated microscope? When they're half amber ill harvest?

My rrf definitely have a tropical smell

good plan. i did that too but cant remember what the ratio was but either way i was convinced they were done and impatient and they got the chop.

that might be it then, try something drastically different in its smell next grow and see if it was a similar rrf or your nose is weedblind.:smoke:
