Things Needed:
A temperature controlled heating surface: For my preferred method a toaster oven.
A shoe box.
A thermometer * not necessary * but handy for one step
A bud.
*WARNING* - this is only to quickly sample your bud for it's relative potency and not to gauge flavor and smoke profile. It's best to always use a slow dry and cure process for the best results.
First get a shoebox. * The shoebox will allow slow dry air and mild humidification for a quick but slightly slower and more even drying of your bud. If your shoebox does not have side holes add two of them about 1/2 inch in diameter. The shoebox will buffer and disperse the heat more evenly and prevent scorching, as you want the temperature to be as close to 147 degrees ( the temperature at which THC begins to vaporize) as possible.
Preheat the toaster oven, griddle, or other comparable surface to 155-160 degrees Fahrenheit. :hot:* the shoebox will not exceed 145 degrees if below 160. 155 will keep it at around 140.
Place the shoebox on top of heating surface to preheat.
Collect a bud and trim it down, leave an inch or two of stem.
* if you have a thermometer test the bottom surface of the shoebox once the heating surface has preheated to 155-160 (may be indicated by an audible ding or light on your device ) ( some shoeboxes are thicker or thinner than others, therefore your box may or may not be closer to 147 )
Place your bud in the bottom of the box.
Turn the bud once every hour a quarter turn.
That's it! After 6-12 hours gently feel your bud for dryness and test the stem by cracking it. If it snaps, smoke it, if not continue until done. The 6 hour gap in time is dependent on the size and quality of your bud. :smoke:
Cheers, feel free to leave comments and YOUR preferred method of quick drying!
