50% light potting mix / 25% perlite /20% worm castings / 5% hydroton pebbles at the bottom.

planting in 5 gal fabric pots, so 11L pots.

i nromally prefer to do things exactly but am having trouble figuring out how to mix this all up with the proper ratios cos some stuff comes in L and some in KG and even then its hard to do exactly.

I thought about using few pots and placing individual ingredients into each and calculating it that way, then mix them all up together.

So i have two questions please:

1) Anyone have a better idea for exact calculations?

2) Do i need to rinse or drench the hydroton pebbles before placing at bottom of pot?

I'm not sure on the calculations, but you definitely want to rinse the clay pebbles. I put them in a separate plastic pot and rinse them until the water coming out is clear.

perlite can be quite dusty to.stab some holes in the arse of bag, open up and pour through some water.
soil measured in L....but is that fluffed up or compacted soil ?
my soil mix is 4:2:1 soil/perlite,vermiculight.4 cups soil 2 cups perlite,1 cup vermiculight.
11L pots is 5.5L soil,2.75L perlite,2.25L worms and 0.5l pebbles +/- ish :smoking:
good luck n keep er llit
