Hi all, I've not begun my first grow yet.

I've no idea how much water the plants will get through. I know there's no exact answer to this as there are too many variables, but I would like some idea so that I can buy a reservoir to mix my water and nutes.

I will be using 22 liter air pruners with soil and will be growing 2-4 plants. What size reservoir? Pics of your set ups would he handy!

Thanks :)

hey @Subaroot - how goes, and welcome!
I dont do soil, someone who does shall certainly pop in - for me, i find the bigger the res the easier it is to dial in and keep it steady, but the bigger res also comes with additional costs such as an air pump and stone, or a water agitator to keep things moving in there if it is going to sit.
You will be surprised at how much they can get through over an entire grow (another factor as to how many times you want to mix nutes as well), but as you say the sheer number of variables will make it hard to calculate until you have done a few runs and have a feel for your environment.

Hey Zaboot thanks for the reply. Yes I've read that certain nutes don't like being stored in water mix for long periods of time.

I aim to use what I mix straight away, so I'm just after a ballpark figure, to gauge what size the container I mix in needs to be to provide 4 plants one feeding.

I use 5 gallon buckets for small batches which is enough to feed 4 plants in soil and 20 gal tote for larger batches ie the coco plants take a lot more water then the soil girls so I make large batch to last a few days
