I also posted this in the New Growers Academy. Sorry if that's a problem.
I'm starting (2) seeds:
(1) X Sweet Seeds Sweet Trainwreck and (1) X Buddha Seeds Purple Kush.
My medium is (complicated):
-(3) parts: reused soilless medium ([2] batches re-amended & cooked between grows since Jan. 2013 -became [1] batch after 3rd grow).
*My reused photoperiod medium is (crazy): peat, perlite, bird-nest coir, pressed coir chips, cocoa bean hulls, lg./med./sm. lava rocks, lg. marble pieces, med. limestone chips, pea gravel, DE, Espoma dolomitic lime (pelletized & powdered), Espoma bone/blood/kelp/alfalfa meals, Espoma PlantTone/BulbTone/BioToneStarter, local EWC, and some other shit that's surely still cookin' around in there.*
-(1) part: Sunshine Mix [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG].
I'm using (2) gal. planters, so I filled them w/
-2/3-ReusedMedium/Sunshine#4 & 1/3-washed new perlite.
-Then, back to the tub to add bone meal, plant-tone, bio-tone, lime, DE, & epsom salt @ 1/4 photoperiod strength (except the DE -love the added cellular-wall strength!).
-I watered each planter w/ Maxicrop liquid seaweed, SuperThrive, & molasses @ full strength (1/2 gal. ea. -SLOWLY -no run-off). I then watered w/ 1/2 gal. plain H2O (btw, my plain water is willow-water & molasses -always) a few days later. I repeated this watering schedule (except ST @ 1/4 strength) for the past 10+ days. So, basically:
--->2:1 - super-light, pre-nuted soilless mix(2) / perlite(1).
Reasonable medium or flaming, rot-filled death-trap?
I usually feed with Aerated Organic Teas (AOT) comprised of molasses/willow-water base along with phase appropriate ingredients @ regular (photoperiod) strength. The only chem I use is MG Cactus Food (for the extra macros/micros) @ 1/2 strength every other watering (i.e. the willow-water/molasses @ 1/2 H2O vol. after Cactus Food @ 1/2 H2O vol.). ...btw, pH has ALWAYS stayed between 6.2 - 7.0 -the H2O, the teas, the medium, the run-off, EVERYTHING (got lucky somehow)!
I know autos require less nutrients and at different times/ratios. Should I expect to use my plain H2O throughout the entire grow since my medium is pre-nutriated and just keep my nutes around in case of abundances/toxicities/deficiencies?
Also, I do have experience growing but only photoperiods. I pulled my 1st outdoor in 1985, my 1st indoor (w/ liberated warehouse/street lights) in 1989. I took a brief state-sanctioned hiatus but have been back doing what I love for about 4 years now.
Thank you all in advance for the knowledge. I'm in new territory & know that I need to learn from the learned & the ignorant (often the best source of knowledge!).
