Hello all! I am wondering if the Mars-Hydro II 400w would be good for my 19"×22"×36" (width depth height) grow box? Would this light create to much heat or light for this space? Should I go with the older 300w?
Thanks!

Hey bro, I have the Mars II 400w and it's a great light but no I wouldn't recommend it for your space... with the 5w chips you want to keep it at least 12" from the tops, which would be a challenge with only 36"... I would go for the 300w or their Reflector series "My 2 cents"

I can't thank you enough Hansbricks! Do you know how far the 300w must be from the tops? I am planning to use 3 gallon pots, but I think I might need to size down for space.

Also does anyone have any experience with the apollo 300w? I got advised that this may be a better option due to the lenses and smaller focus pattern.

Hello BadRabbit, I am Tina from mars hydro. IMO, you can go ahead with our reflector 48x3w, it has a coverage of 2.2'x2.2' (enoguh for yours 1.5'x1.8'). :d5: There won't be any heat issues I promise.
For the height, please keep the lights above the plants for 18~24 inches when do veg and 12~18 inch when do flower. :Sharing One: Can I ask you are doing scrog if you do not mind.

I don't plan to scrog as I will only be growing one plant at a time. If it is needed I may look into doing some training, but as for now I was just going to let them go. What exactly is the difference between the reflector and the old 100x3w model? I think I read somewhere about someone thinking the old model had better light pent ration while the reflector had a greater area. Is there any truth to this? Thanks!

I'm using a 180 Watt UFO to light an area just slightly larger than yours and it works perfectly With even modest ventilation, I can keep temps below 85F.

Hey! Nice to see a Mars Hydro rep!

Hey Tina! Thanks for the input! My question about comparing the reflector and the old model might need some clarification. I mean what is the difference between the reflector and an old model led with the same wattage? Also would the old model 100x3w be too intense for this area? I would like to get the most for my money and the most out of the plant and space. Thanks!

Just ordered a 300 watt old style this morning and I will be using it on my new grow along with a MS006.I will start a grow journal as soon as my seedlings get a little bigger.

I can Second that i had a 180w ufo for my 2x2 Tent and it worked out. Now having 2 of them to maximize that setup.
