Extraction Making my first batch of butter, BUT

Hey all.
I'm making my first batch of butter from my tall lanky plant I chopped early.

So with me chopping it early does that mean I may need more smoke added to butter?
I'm using all the (fluffy) buds and sugar leaves. I ended up with 36g + 8g from leaves off my first plants.
I've read it was 1 ounce to 1lb butter, so will I possibly need more since the plant wasn't ready when I chopped?
I was thinking of doing 21g for 2 sticks of butter just in case. I just didn't think 7g per stick of butter seemed like that much.

personally i think thats fine, but only you know how dank your bud is! i guess just grind all that sh*t up and let it simma-down-now. but on the other hand, are you making a bunch of cookies, or are you trying to make a few super dank cookies? it all depends on what youre trying to do lol i suggest buying a book called the cannabis cook book, i dont know if its sold internationally, but it has everything from alcoholic tinctures to desserts even pizza and pasta.

I just planned on making 1 batch of cookies. It says 21 cookies on the back, but I know it depends on the size of the cookies.
So we'll see I guess. I'm excited none the less, hope I'm not wasting the smoke.

Butter is very green and smells like AlfAlfa/Hay. Should it smell like that or should it have a good smell?

Cookies made, Still have a slight Hay/AlfAlfa type smell.
The butter was more like wax then butter. Took awhile to soften it up to use.

Ate one and it tasted like shit. Can't eat those things. Oh well.

Just a tip - search for water curing your bud. Never done it myself, but have heard it lowers the hay taste/smell when making editables.

Another tip - only use bud/sugar leaves next time. Stems and leaves have a lot of chlorphyl which can give it a bad taste. Good luck on your next batch. It always takes some experimenting, so dont give up.

I just did some budder with straight nugget and it tastes fucking amazing. Agree w/ kpex, prob the stems that did you in. Still eat those fuckers, though!

i wouldnt throw it away, i personally think even if it tastes bad its worth the effect.

id try finding ways to use it in something that would mask the taste. chocolate is a good one, anything strong really.
mix in normal butter to a bit to dilute it etc, its not a write off yet.

+1 on water curing i hear that helps alot, im trying that next time just about finished 2lb of disgusting butter myself loved every bit of it.

sounds like you went a little heavy with the greens and fresh greens too, thats a lot of taste to overcome. letting it dry and cure will break that down before you make the butter, also you'll find some taste mask the flavor better peanut butter works well for this
