I caught this on another site today.
It was very well written and generates food for thought.
Most pot heads won't give a shit.
But this article says lots about all nutes in general.
Thought you might enjoy the read during Covid, or retirement.

Thanks for thinking of me @GeorgeCloney, I am always up for learning something. Really interesting article by the way, I enjoyed reading it, and may have even learned something. :thanks:

Oh, and how about covid and retirement? I can recommend the retirement part, and if ya gotta do the covid part, doing it retired is the best plan. Other than the age thing... :pighug:

I meant those of you whom are retired by choice ( unlike those with covid).
It was all meant in the greatest of respect @Olderfart .
Why am I smiling rereading what I just wrote...
Lmao :crying:

Perhaps the word respect while writing to someone refered to as olderfart.
Don't quite fit together in the same sentence in my mind.
Now I'm really laughing F'ing ass off.
(With you/ not at you, of course).
Hmmm, nahh,...I'm laughing at you.
But it's meant with love...
Ok , I'm gonna piss my pants.
Thank God I dont smoke and get stoned.
Could you imagine...

Actually, I totally missed the potential offence I think you had in mind. I am retired by choice and age, and never even thought about how someone involuntarily "retired" in this pandemic might interpret our comments. My bad that, under current circumstances.

Anyway, just to be clear about all this, I have huge sympathy for those whose jobs or businesses have been harmed by this pandemic. I honestly think that us retired oldsters have it the easiest of all, at least in terms of how our lives can continue reasonably well as long as we avoid the virus. I really feel for those who have lost their jobs or businesses, and for that matter, those who must continue to work in high risk areas so that the rest of us have food and other necessities. More than anything, I feel for the medical staff in hospitals that have to try to take care of the sick people without taking the disease home to loved ones. This is not a nice time to be a young nurse with a family.

Stay safe. :pighug::cheers:

I have used the Lucas formula in the past and had good results. I don't remember why I moved on. I think it just did not work as well on autos? I got free nutrients at a show! House & Garden grew better plants. I love free stuff. It has been a long time since I used GH. I don't think I can beat how cheap it is to grow with GreenLeaf. I think I will use about $14 of MC 2-part and $36 of supplements for 6 plants.

Anyhow

When I first started here I was growing with the lucas formula cheap and cheerful and thanks for the article I will read it on my pc later

@pop22 gave me the idea to try an ebb and flow setup.
Which means a res full of nutes.
My first choice would be to use MC.
But I've got 6 bottles of GH to consume.

Anybody have success with a full hydro system using MC?

My wife is a nurse.
We're both 55.
She could work 100/week.
And I have to now teach trucking mechanics online.
So thanks for sharing those thoughtful words with us.
Btw, I only tease those I suspect having the character to take it. I also only tease people I admire.
So, no bad thoughts intended ok @Olderfart .

Now it certainly wasn't scientific, but I did a side by side test, here on AFN, of H&G for soil vs some $0.99 plant food I bought at wally world just for this test lol. 6 plants, 3 plant got H&G etc. Guess what........ the cheap shit grew better plants! The three on the cheap nutes were all taller and made more bud than the H&G. A fluke? Maybe. Wish I'd done it with more plants. Still, considering how damned expensive H&G is, I expected better performance than this! This is one of the things that led me to Megacrop. I'd do a side by side against MC, but I'll be damned if I piss away another $40 on H&G!

I have no comment on the Lucas formula as I refuse to have anything to do with GH products, or any other owned by Monsanto. I don't believe in so called "feeding schedules" either. You can't force a plant to eat...... your plant wants a banquet with all the fixings and they'll chose what they want/need. Give your plants what they need, not what you want them to have!

I have been using MC in full hydro for 2 years. current and most recent crops.
