I know I'm growing it right, I know I'm flushing it right, feeding it right, I grow some very nice looking plants. However at chop time everything changes, I dry it enough I know that and then cure it for a month at least...I have people hate it or love it..I've grown every genetics under the sun the only one thing I haven't done is dried my bud in a super cool room (Under 75 degrees) it usually dries around 80-83. Can that effect the flavor that much? I've tasted all my bud and it tastes fine to me. My last batch is sweet, salty, a little peppery and earthy..Nothing like the schwag from the 80s that all tasted the same...I cure my weed in mason jars in a very cool room its in the mid 70s. Can my drying change the taste that much? One person even asked me if I dried my bud in the same room where I grow it, how he knew is beyond me but he knew..Any input is welcome

Heat and light both effect terps, especially during drying and cure. Cool dark place is the way to go. Silly to go through all the trouble to grow great buds and then have them get spoilt in the last little part.

The cure is total darkness and very cool, I didn't think low 80s was too hot for drying its dark too with a fan

regardless I swapping rooms for the dry now that cool weather is here...I've done everything under the sun to get a 100% likeable review minus drying is a really cool room, darkness is a given

@RonnieB I have tweaked my growing method in many ways to improve the aroma and flavor of my final product. Here are the things that have made the biggest improvements:

1. UVA light. I added AgroMax UVA Plus 10,000 K t548 lamps to my grow the entire flower time. This single thing added the most improvement to the terpene profile. I also use UVB the last two weeks prior to harvest.

2. Add carbohydrates the last two weeks before harvest. I use AN Bud Candy once two weeks before harvest and Molasses one week before harvest. I do not flush.

3. Dry to 11% moisture on a meter (62% RH as tested in a closed jar with a hygrometer) in a cool dark place with 60% RH and a light air motion.

4. Cure in Grove Bags . Read all about them here:

These tweaks have improved my terpene profiles to connoisseur levels.

:goodluck:

I use carbs for the entire grow to feed the microbes and enzymes ...RAW NPK molasses that are freeze dried, I use grovebags, I dry to 62% +- the error range of the hydrometers, which they all have if you read the fine print...The only thing different between you and me are the UVs, interesting, sounds expensive but interesting. I just bought 2 more growcrafts X3-500s for under 900 I had to pull the trigger, the commercial X3-500s are usually over 1300 each...They sold me two new ones with 3 year warranty for 897 to the door...

I let mine dry almost completely. That happens really quickly in my climate (2-3 days). Then I put them in a Mason jar with a boveda pack. I open the jar once or twice a day, for 20 minutes at first. By the end of the month or so it's just a few minutes a day.

After a month they're smelling really good, but over the next two they get better. Granted, I probably lose some terps because they dry so fast initially. But I over-dried some 50 shades of grape a few months ago and they still smell like dried currants and blackberries after curing.

If the haters don't like your weed or are complaining, tell them to bring their own. That's rude.

Mine dries fairly fast, around 6-10 days depending on the bud sizes...I've never had a complaint about potency, everyone gets wrecked but I am starting to think these people have never had craft weed...They're used to homegrown from mexico or huge field grows that are all ambered and just couch lock weed...Because I got a ton of comments about getting wired and some of them didn't like that part of some of my strains..They said they thought they did a line of blow lol...

Curing at higher temps will degrade terps as they will oxidize much quicker. 80* is pretty warm for that. I keep my house at 69* (gigity) cause I'm really heat sensitive, and I think it really helps keep those terps better preserved. Are you drying the whole plant or individual branches/buds? A slow dry tends to allow flavors to shine through better, from my understanding. Lower temps make for slower dry time, along with hanging the whole plant vs smaller pieces etc.

If they're getting a super racy high you may not be letting the buds ripen quite long enough.
