Hello everyone, hope you're having a fantastic day!

I would like to share a little stubborn plant with you that has been hiding in my tent... and refusing to grow at an expected pace!
The strain is Dutch Passion Think Different, she is in 17l smart pot filled with Canna Coco Pro, the light (GN HS1 on 20/4 schedule) is approx 40cm above her and she is getting Canna A+B nutes + H&G Roots Excelurator.
Temps:
Lights on - 24-27C
Lights off - 21-23C
Humidity varies between 30-40% depending on if it's feed day

Here she is, now you might think nice and green etc all that jazz but it's day 18 today since surfacing and she is the size of a lighter!

Day 18.jpg

I am feeding atm 1.5ml each A+ B and 0.3ml H&G RE into bubbled tap water (my tap is acceptable pH and approx 200ppm), this is then pHed to usual 5.8.. She is getting approx 300ml every 2 days - any more than that and the coco stays wet underneath and I wanted her to go through a wet/dry period to encourage root development. Never have I seen signs of under/overwatering.
Lights drop to 40cm was caused by stretching in week 1, stretch stopped at 40cm, but the problem is not the vertical growth but the 'horizontal' so to speak - the plant is just very very tiny! It might look bigger in the picture but she is only 8cm or so across (tip of leaf to tip)
There is air extraction running at 50%... I didn't see the need to go full-on, I'm sure there is more than adequate supply of CO2, the airflow out of the exhaust is good. The room is regularly ventilated from outside OR there is a human sitting there providing the CO2 (no jokes hehe). Similarly, there is an oscillating fan inside set for 50% - just a light breeze so that she can GENTLY sway to keep air circulating and strengthen stem.

Here is another picture from a couple of days ago for reference:

Day 16b.jpg

You can see there is a small burn from foliar misting (right side tip), as humidity is around 30-40% - I realize this is a bit low and either this or the fan might be causing the curling of tips, so I'm trying to mist coco surface and plant on lights-off period. The surface of coco dries out fast, but it's moist underneath. I have seen that the roots are already starting to poke out in a couple of places out of the fabric.

I'm following this schedule with canna - it's taken from one of the major grow shops, so I'm assuming they know what plant it's for lol. (I know canna have got their own calculator but I find this one clearer to follow). I'm also assuming it's for photos but since TD is known to be such a heavy feeder I just went with it.

I might be fussing around but looking at all those beautiful plants on the forum I'm a bit sad and not sure what I'm doing wrong as the plant doesn't look unhappy, just small?

TL; DR - what causes stunted growth without other readily apparent signs of stress?

- is it not sufficient air movement?
- is it underfeeding?
- is it wind burn? (HOW, the fan is barely on lol and bouncing off the wall)
- is it low humidity? (I did read though that good results are achieved with 30% in veg as long as there is moisture at roots)
- is she just working on root system? (but I've seen numerous plants in bigger pots that were a lot bigger)
- is it something else?

I know she will get there eventually, but I'm going away for a week or so and there will be someone taking care of the plant for me so I want to know if I should instruct them to feed more or otherwise change the environment.

PS. Who knows how to get imgur to work over TOR? It's refusing my uploads :cuss:

Hello londonpeach! I had also this slow grow problem if you check my journal! I found out that it was because of the hot soil! I see that you are using coco but i guess that if its ''hot'' then will cause the same annoying slow shit! I fixed it by restarting with a light soil and it totally worth it! Ofc i would like to point out that i am very new at this hobby so i might be wrong!

Good luck , i hope there is another way than a restart to fix it

Hey Oneiro, thanks for checking out my thread :tiphat:

It's definitely not the feeding as I have been careful with adjusting the EC to the plant's needs and if anything, I think I might have been underfeeding rather than overfeeding her, besides the leaves are a beautiful green and without any burn.

HOWEVER

A couple of kind souls in the Live Thread have pointed out that humidity might be an issue, and also I was wondering about proper air extraction, so I did 2 things - put a big dish of water inside next to the plant where the fan moves (so it carries the moisture around the tent) and also upped the extraction so that more air is exchanged with outside and the day I left she was looking better (as in bigger) already. Or who knows, maybe she just took her SWEET ASS TIME :crying:

it's all in the hands of my sitter now I'm afraid but I bet when I come back there will be a happy plant waiting for me

Have a great day everyone :dance2:
