Indoor Lights off before harvest?

I have heard that keeping the girls in the dark for three days prior to harvest is the thing to do.

Anyone have experience with this and what does it do?

Incredible plants Shred ...

Using my own brand of 'Hippie Science' I generally give my plant 2-3 days of low light / sometimes less hours of light / and less heat under the theory that light degrades THC so no reason to push them when they should be about done producing THC ... no idea if that is true ... I generally aim for harvesting after 6-8 hrs of darkness ... it would be nice to know the science behind the last 2 weeks of a grow and the first week or two of dry & cure ... I do what I do because it's how I've always done it but quite often I find that there's a better way ...

Im thinking plunging the plants into an extended darkness period before harvest sets off a stress defense mechanism and the plants puts out its last bit of resin. Also, I believe during the dark period the plant puts its resources, like nutes, down in its roots so there would be less in the plants stems and buds for harvesting.This is just my independent thought though, no science, hippie or otherwise, to back this up.

I've done it and didn't really see enough of a change to do it consistently. My preference is to begin my next run soon as possible.

The main difference I have noticed when doing this is the smaller buds get bigger

48 hours of dark before harvest will put her into protective mode and produce extra resin supposed to at least, some people swear it helps others dont what i am doing next harvest is put one lady in 48 dark and the rest keep in light and compare resin amount
