Lighting Lighting Question

Quick question
For a tent that is 4' long 2 feet wide and 5 feet high

Would it be better to have 2 light systems
1 150 watter hps
1 250 watter hps

or
1 400 watter hps

My opinion would be go with the 400W lamp...

I face with the lighting problem too when I start. This is my fist grow and I choose a 150W HPS. My cabinet is around 1.5' X 1,5' and 5' tall (45cmX45cmX160cm). If you use a cooltube I think you should choose the 400W HPS, but if you coudn't try it with 2 150W I think. The area isn't symmetric. The wide is about half of the length. From this aspect U should use 2X150W for the ballanced lighting. As I write I use 1X150W HPS what around 14' above the plants and the temp is stay around 28-29 C. They like it. How many plants do you plan to grow?

Which strain do you want to grow? Just ask about the size. I have grown already 2 plants (green-o-matics) and enough the 150W HPS. They are relatively short. For 2 plants I dont advice to use a 400W HPS ,but the box size let you grown more plant. So, which strain?

I would use 2 250w in that space. Most lights and reflectors have a core saturation footprint of around 2' x 2'

In that tent you want to go SCROG style for max effency.
To get the most gram per watt use a light mover.
Go with 2 smaller cooler hid lights and a larger and more even foot print over a single larger HID in that space every time.
Or 4 ft t5, with high par fish aquarium bulbs would be great!k

I used a 150w CMH And 150 hortillux hPS In my little cab and im experimenting with EDFL induction flourescent an will never go back to HID
You must keep lil 150s with in 8-12 in if the canopy. For best results.
Ant you must cool tube it or somthing to Manage the 250'f bulb surface temp it will burn hem @ 8-12 inches.
Also you MUST Replace the bulbs evey yr an balletst every 5 yrs or it won't go wrth a fuck.
But it can be done and kick ass if temps can be controlled.
I've done it in a 2x3x2 cab since I left colorado.

Just ask about the height. Example if you try with a sativa dominated strain they probable grow tall (like a Think Different), but if you choose some indica strain probably they dont grow to big, and the smaller HPS maybe good.
