Hi guys, I have seedstockers white widow autos under 250 watt MH for about 5 days now on 24h I plan to run on 20-4 or 18-6 (opinions welcome!), my question is when do I start to give them some dark? They are just sprouting their second set of leaves and are 18cm from parabolic light at 25c and seem healthy. Also be interested to see when people switch to 400watt? I plan to run MH until I see pistols.
Thanks

You dont need to give them dark. I run 24/0. Others run 18/6 or 20/4. Depends on how you will handle your electricity bill. I would not recommend lower than 18/6.

generally plants which are given 24hrs light finish few days faster, but the electricity cost vs time saved is not comparable. So most go for 18/6 or 20/4. Just do what you think is best. Nobody will give you a perfect answer. Basically all 3 option above will all give you great results if the rest of environment is in sync.

if you are going to decrease the lighting hours or increase the wattage, personally i would do it after 2-4 weeks.

I would start on 20/4 and work your way to 18/6 its debatable about them needing dark I find they need it and I never run my lights all the time anyhow nice to meet you growbro

Btw the main reason i run my lights 24/0 is because it helps to keep humidity down and secondly i'm scared to start using a timer haha

@Waira has some excellent scientific posts on this forum about what you asking about light cycle. Have a search.

Yes saw that thanks, thought I’d put it in wrong place! Just trying to find out when people take the seedlings off 24hr light as well. I’d do a journal if I work out how this site works! It will be my first scrog. 733A3019-3C99-41F7-B184-E0C9246D8D5A.jpeg

if you go to the main forum page and go down to the new growers section you will see a button to post a new thread like you have done here its a good way to keep all the info you need in one place

I do all my bean starts (autos & photos) in a cabinet under a 96w T5 24/0, with an indirect breeze. At about 3-4 weeks, they're moved to a bloom tent ....autocobs and a qb....that usually runs 12/12.
I've done it this way perpetually for years and typically yeild 1.5-2 oz per plant even though I grow in 2-3 ltr pots.
With the T5, I can lower it very close, around 1-2 inches above the plants, mist occassionally, and pop some popcorn for the ride.

I run 20/4 in coco and with Autocobs and quantum boards. When I was in soil and used mass built led's with 3 watt or 5 watt diodes, I ran 24/7 when seed was planted. 24/7 has always been my favorite light schedule.

Thanks, did you stay 24h all the way through?
