Not long purchased an aircooled hood , running 600w dual spec about 1-1.5ft above the plants , at the moment I'm doing 12 small dwarf strains under the light so I've got a variety of different smokes , but I can help feel that now using the hood the footprint from the light isn't covering an as wide an area , could anyone enlighten me

Raising the hood will increase footprint. Arrange plants to fit footprint of hood. Regardless of height the light will only have a certain optimum footprint. So, raising hood doesn't actually increase foot print. Distance decreases light. So it's a matter of finding the optimum footprint for your light with hood.

Hmm well I've got the hood/light approx a foot above the canopy , been small plants this means the light itself a maybe 2.5-3ft off the floor which is giving me the feeling the footprints going to be smaller especially with the shape of the hood , might have to remove the hood and play about with the old wing deflector

this is the style I have I feel the plants that sit maybe a foot away from intake and extraction holes aren't getting decent penetration due to the shape of it and the height I have it, i understand light doesnt travel around corners , if I put say a 2 metre ruler along either the Intake or extraction side going down to the floor , a couple of the plants are sat on the outside of the ruler which to me is saying it's not getting proper light , ovbiously its getting the light reflected from the Mylar but it's not receiving it direct from the source

One good way to check is to place your hand right on top of the bud and see/feel the light. I've only used led's, so I don't know anything about the light you're using, but I think you should be ok moving the light up.

And they're not too picky during veg, but you definitely want to have plenty of light by the time you go into blooming. Maybe get some side lights?

The light you are using is built for penetration not foot print. You should actually be able to raise that light to around 18"+24" during flower, the lower being more highly recommended. But they light is for hanging high and penetrating deep. They make lights for more coverage but you lose intensity/penetration value. Take the Magnum low pro xxl....5.6" inches deep total with crazy spread. Now check out dominator xxxl.... you may do better with the wing in your situation honestly. You need coverage, not intensity, specially for autos.

would I be better off with something like this for now? It fully makes sence now I've looked at the dominator and magnum , is there something similar to them but abit cheaper? Can't justify spending £130 on another after recently spending £50 on the other
