Hello all - as the threadmark says, I would like to understand how the whole LED and CalMag issue rears its head in soil, and what can be done to over the grow, using natural ingredients only to keep it in check.

Or is it not a thing? Should the soil have enough throughout the life of the plant.

This has been bugging me a lot - I have one tent with Recirculating system in coco and pebbles, that is controlled by adding lots of camlmag (an issue non existent with HPS from memory), I now have a soil tent as well, regular soil/peat and one in living soil. So I am baffled as to one needs lots and the other is only getting water at the moment and look fine

Thank you in advance

My experience with soil/led/cal goes something like this

I used to add magne cal from plant magic because I just assumed it needed it. Led lights and soil with organic grow/bloom (obvs it's not a full organic grow if I'm using magne cal) but then started getting issue identified as too much cal.

Basically, because my water is hard as fuck I just don't need to add any more cal to it. I get mag def from led sometimes but I usually spray with epsom a few times before flower, add to the soil if needed in flower.

I think bonemeal is an organic calcium amendment, probably dump some on top and water/feed it

Most good "cannabis" soil ( use Happy Frog myself) and nutrient lines usually have enough Cal-Mag for the grow. Some have lacked but been revamped ( MegaCrop 1 part, add .5 gram epsom salt) MC is now a 2 part. Water quality and PH is a major player....My 1st grow, followed all the recomended info.....MoG figured out my well water ( limestone aquifer) had too much calcium and by adding Cal-Mag I was screwing them up....Cal-Mag on shelf, store bought RO water and crop saved....

Thanks Bill - help info, I do use a mix of RO and tap which is constantly aerated in the res. So Epsoms are the go to if things go a touch awry from a calmag perspective
