Lm281's are not as efficient, nor as capable as the lm301 series, BUT they are much cheaper in bulk quantities. Any reputable lighting outfit will only be running the lm301 series.

My ParfactWorks WF420 uses LM281b whites an blues, combined with Epistar 660nm red, UV, and IR. Its a very nice light. I ran it at 60% in my 30x5x80 in my last grow and had a massive yield from my plants. Great Genetics played a major role, but it definitely couldn't have been possible without a great light. I also have a couple lights with LM301B's, and I can't tell a difference although I know there is efficiency wise. I soon will acquire a light mounted with LM351H diodes and I am very interested to see how it will perform.
