I have a mars II 400w light (standard spectrum). Their recommended hanging distance is...

Germination 24-30inch (60-76cm).

Vegetative 18-24inch (46-60cm).

Flowering 12-18inch (31-46cm).

1) So i was wondering since it's a LED light, would i be able to put it closer in vegging for better results?.. it seems a bit far in my opinion.

2) Also how close does the light have to be before bleaching the plants?

3) When is the plant actually considered being in veg state?

If anyone has any experience i would love to here it. :thank:

Those numbers are the so called sweet spot for optimum performance so I would stick with them. There are no set numbers on how close you can get before bleaching and this should be avoided because it will stunt them. The veg state starts from the day the seed sprouts until the vertical growth slows and she starts showing main flower pistols.

Here's what happens when you don't think it's too close and it is. IMG_3646.jpg

I have the mars old styl 300w (180 draw white one) and I switched from a ds100 knock off and within three days all of my new growth started turning bright yellow. I thought I had an iron deficiency but I switched back to the old light and every thing got better. It wa definately the light and I had it about 2 feet away. I'll have to get a taller cabinet before I try it again

Awesome, i appreciate your answers :) I'll stick to the recommended distances
