Hi all
A newbie 101 question! I'm a few weeks away from my very first harvest & I've read here that getting a jeweller's loupe is a good way of making sure you can see when the trichomes are getting milky. The question is whether a 30x magnification is enough, or am I better looking for more?
Thanks in advance

You can get a cheapo loupe with 30x and 60x lenses and LED lights for each lens, but be forewarned that the 12mm 60x is kind of hard to use.

I recently grabbed a Grower's Edge 60X Cell Phone Microscope from the local hydro store for a little over $10. Their website has them for $11.75. I have yet to check trichs with it but I've messed around with it on leaf material and it works great. Highly recommended.

Thanks folks! Yeah it's a toss up between a loupe and a cellphone macro/microscope attachment, except checking amazon (I live in Europe), the ones I've seen so far only have either 5 star reviews that are as long as your arm (so fake!) or 1 line 1 star reviews (which I'm more inclined to trust, cynic that I am!). I'll check out the USB cams too. Thanks once again for taking the time to resond

i have a few scopes the usb one is great as you can get an OTG cable to attach it to your phone or use it on your pc the jeweller's loops do an ok job but remember with trichomes its not the ones on the leaves you want to be checking its the buds

St Tom, thanks for the advice - especially the bit I've just quoted! Have a good one
no problem any time you need a hand with anything hit me up and welcome to afn

Thanks man - mine started flowering about a week ago, so wait for the whiny anxious "are we there yet", in a couple of weeks lol!

The images below were taken with a usb microscope - the top image is around 30x mag and the lower is around 80 -100x
I found 30x more difficult to see amber trichomes.
