I've got a pest I want to know about...

...my grow area is outside in a greenhouse-like area with light to moderate ventilation. I live in South Texas.

The 'effect' is primarily on the lower ~10% of leaves and a few upper leaves.

Well? ...What is it and how do I get rid of it?

Not definate, but looks like `Leaf Miner` damage. If it is, you should remove all leaves that show symptoms(and bin/burn them)! They burrow into the leaves, so they`re a fucker to get at...and will spread, if the infected area is left un-attended. Hopefully someone else will chime in, with a 2nd opinion...best of luck:peace:

looks like some sort of slug.Pick them off by hand or get a organic insecticide and spray them.

If it is leaf miners, then insecticide wont hit them, cos they travel around in the leaf! If its slugs, I`d have thought they`d have had a good munch...but I dont see any bite damage! Just my :2cents:

looks like miners to me but I've only seen pics never had them

Definately leaf miners dude... No doubt... I'll sub this thread & then check my Ryan Riley cannibis care manual tonight after work etc.... I was reading about those little shits the other night in that manual... Can't remember what he said but I think I remember he said to crush the leaf where the miner is... It will be a tiny black spot inside the leaf somewhere... Get a torch dude & shine it thru... See if you can see him.. I'll get back to u l8r on when I have a definate remedy... Ok

It's leaf miners.

Some of your leafs (like in the first pic) are already too affected. They won't recuperate well and can be removed. The leaf miners are probably not there already but the leafs will brown up and dry.
On the other leafs that aren't as affected, you should be able to spot the larvae at the end tip of the tunnels (if they haven't hatched out yet). It looks like a darker spot at the end tip of a tunnel. If you find them you can squash them or use a lady's pin (for example) and pin them out of the leave and them kill it.

Last but not least, you also have spider mites bites and/or other bugs. I can spot it on your leafs. Go and get yourself some neem oil at your local store. It's safe for the plants and can be used from young age. Every 10 to 12 days is a good measure for foliar spraying them as a preventive tool.

Keep calm and carry on

Thanks for the info/advice everyone. Looks like I'll be picking all leafs effected off of the plants and then get some neem oil to mix up and apply every week or so.

Geez, WAY more leaves than I thought had these little m-f'ers...my 'girls' got a good (almost severe, IMO) picking and they're all cleaned-up now...my fingers got sticky, and smellin' good, so that's a good sign of things to come...oh wow! A LOT of bigger 'fan' leaves had this problem...FWIW, every leaf with even the least little bit of signs of leaf miners got picked/removed...I want their f'n asses OUT of my grow area! ...they're eatin' MY stuff! ...mine, mine, mine! The bigger 'fan' leaves kind of help their 'underlings' get established...so I'm thinking this 'cleaning' might slow growth for a little bit...no biggie...the girls will come through...they're healthy now.

I went to Lowe's EARLY this morning, met them at the door as they were opening, and they had some Garden Safe Neem Oil Extract (16 fl oz w/ 70% neem oil) for $9.97...I also bought a 32 fl oz bottle of orange oil for $16.97. For those of you that haven't tried/looked at orange oil...it's neat stuff...orange oil degrades the waxy coating on the ectoskeleton of insects, causing dehydration and asphxiation (ie kills them)...and it leaves a pleasant, stealthy, scent to help mask the scent of 'the girls'...which I hope will only get much worse to try to conceal. Lowe's also had an inexpensive pump-up sprayer, 1 gallon, $8.99...my kind of deal...cheap! Anyway, I mixed up 1 fl oz of neem oil and 1 fl oz of orange oil in 2 qts of water. Both oils said they had emulsifiers in them, which they did (emulsifiers keep the oil in suspension in water...makes it go kinda milky...it's still a good idea to shake the sprayer tank frequently to keep it all mixed up though). I soaked the plants down good...top to bottom, under/over, etc. I had some left in the tank so I sprayed down the 'grow area' REAL good...I want to get rid of these little pricks! ...again ...mine, mine, mine!

THANK YOU, ALL of you, BIG TIME, for your ideas/suggestions/comments!

This place rocks!

A Happy 4th to all! ...do whatever makes you happy, and do it a lot! ...and then do it some more! ...repeat as necessary, I do...quite often.

May your eyes get as red as mine do.
