[/IMG]. I water only a small amount per watering and I wait till the soil is dry. The last time I watered them was yesterday afternoon and they jus became this droopy later today. ( slightly droopy yesterday but then appeared to be better) I think I overwatered but the first few inches of soil is pretty dry... Some plants appear to be more droopy than others...please help!

How much water you givin them per plant? Mine usually droop like that after i water-sometimes they stay like that for a day an then straighten out. For example;watered tonight with 1 liter to a 1 gallon smartpot/promix-their droopin now,by tomorrow they'll be standin tall again.

Im not sure exactly how much, since I've been using distilled water I just water each plant until the soil is moist. My plants are now 18 days old and I haven't watered enough to even get runoff. I'm using some 3 gallon pots and a 5 gallon. How do you know how much is to much or to little without having a moisture meter around?

Be patient when watering, around the base close to the stem, slowly! Try not to have the water touch the stem, you'll risk the chance of stem-rot. Airpots are tough, so be patient.

When watering I've also been giving it a good amount at the base I hope they don't rot!

You should really try to keep track of how much is goin in,especially when you start feeding them nutes in a short while. When you water, water till you got enuf runoff to ph test it and after your done lift your pots and feel the weight of the freshly watered pot. Give them 3-4 days more or less and lift the pot again to feel the weight of a dry pot. By doin it that way you'll get to know from the weight of the pot when they need water or not. Also, watch your plants and they'll tell you when they need water-if they go long in between water they'll start to droop a little-now you got a startin point for next time-water them just before they start to droop. Just takes a little practice bro and you'll have your water schedule down in no time.

When I use soil/soilless containers, I always water all around the edge of the containers.
Don't really have a reason why except that's how my mother made me water her plants when I was growing up.
Though now that I think about it, it could cause the plant to push out roots in search of water and also help avoid stem rot.
hmmm, interesting...

Is there a way that you know to test/check for stem rot? And I also give them water around the edges as well to ensure even watering but next time ill be more careful when watering around the base :peace:

first sign of overwatering is yellow leaves at the bottom of the plant. you'll note that you don't have those 8)

it's a lot easier to fix dry than wet, so i recommend erring to one side, even though demise at either end is strikingly unattractive... someone put it "we ain't growing rice dude" :p your roots are happy as long as there's some humidity in the soil (and there's usually more than one expects).

you'll know when your plants are rotting. the leaves will curl down, the plant will go straight down. your plants look fine.

Thanks for the info. They look better today but they aren't standing up like the leaves of the sour d (which clearly has smaller leaves though). When I put my finger in the soil its pretty dry but ill wait longer until my next watering.
