Being dimmable, is this too much?

It will just fit in my cabinet. 30” W x 25” D x 72”

One of those panels would cover a 2x4. So, by size alone it might be overkill.
But...
Dimmable? Problem solved. I'd rather have to much and back off than not have enough.

Plus, that's a top notch light, upgrading won't be necessary for quite a while. And would work well if you ended up enlarging your area.

As long as the light fits in there I would call it good to go since it is dimmable, don't forget to cover the inside of the cabinet with proper reflective stuff.
I'm running 2 x 150w in 2x4 tent and it is fine.

As other said, more watts than needed, but easily solved by dimming, and a very nice light.

I would add that the higher watts than otherwise needed will permit operation from further from the canopy, and this will improve delivery of light below the top of the canopy. Call it penetration if you like, or not. Whatever, if you deliver what is needed at the top of the canopy from farther away, you deliver more light below the canopy top than you would if the light was closer.

Good luck with it, and have fun trying it out.

Upon further review, I am not 100% sure this is a legit HLG.

Anyone familiar w/this company?

While not false advertising as it does have the Meanwell hlg driver, it is not a Horticulture Lighting Group unit.
It concerns me when companies will "omit" things to make things appear what they are not.

If the components are the same, (Samsung lm301h diodes) the deal sounds solid, don't know about the company... at 219 as opposed to 349 for a true HLG unit, there are costs being cut somewhere I'd bet.

Thanks Arthur, those were my thoughts too. At first I thought is was the same, but then notice subtle differences. I've emailed the vendor and asked if their HLG boards. I've also reached out to HLG to see if there are in fact having a black friday sale :smoking:

I wouldn't buy from them... apart from not really being an HLG board, i think it also worries how they are basically using the same website template as other HLG-like brands . I'd Consider other more familiar brands such as MarsHydro, Autocob, or even HLG themselves if you can afford them. The brand i linked i'd also recommend but are basically HLGs with little additions.
