Hey people of AFN, i have a question regarding some insecticide that i just put in my rain water barrel. My problem was that i had loads of little bugs swimming around in there... i'm using a dwc setup and i didn't want them in with my roots just incase they got hungry and ate them or whatever. Anyway the man at the shop assured me that it wouldn't hurt my 'tomatoes' but i'm sceptical about having my roots soaking in it because it smells pretty chemical. If anyone can tell me if its safe or not i'd be very grateful.
stylez rasta smoke
Peace

High!

It is widely used for pest control (bugs etc...) and mosquitoes. It is with the anti-mosquitoes use that we are seeing a lot of side effects environmentally (cattles milk near treated ponds etc...)
Deltamethin is one of the most poisonous of its class... use with caution :2cents:
---->Pesticides are annoying so maybe you could throw in, some peroxyde oxyde (heavy dose) and let sit / bubble for 2-3 days. Check if suitable

Or go get some Azadirachtin (neem oil extract) or neem oil and bomb the lil fuckers with that... It won't be as quick or instant but it'll get the job done in a non toxic way...

Hey guys cheers for the replies, so its not safe? Tokaite did you mean hydrogen peroxide? got some 3% stuff if that'll do the trick didn't add a whole lot of the insecticide, said 1 ml per litre and i put about 12 ml in the whole thing and its a pretty big container.

Yes sorry, Hydrogen peroxyde, not sure as of the amount to be put...
But 3% is a too low, try food grade 35%....
