As i have yet to find any threads about this and since i found this to be very effective

Before harvest : 72 h of darkness + a knife trough the stem

=> plant starts freaking out and creates mountain's o THC

I'll post pics later to confirm what i just said

Regards

Sweet Chronic

Cool idea! I've sorta skip out on the dark period before harvest as I've not noticed much difference either way. I'm about to chop my og Kush so I guess I got nothing to loose and will give this a try ;) been waiting for her to amber up, but she's not really, maybe this strain doesn't amber? Who knows other than its been in the tent LONG ENOUGH! She's coming down! Watch out Mr. Stem! Yoda's yielding a blade!

I saw some amazing results from friend and i'll post my own in few days :D

make sure u tape either bottom or top above the knife so the stem doesn't splitt to far ! :D

I would need a pretty good write up to believe that. I've heard of the knife/nail through the stem from way back but it wasn't for THC. From what I have read it was to make "2 stems" for better growth. Why would severe trama that would lead to water loss and problems getti.g nutrients cause the trichrome to suddenly produce more thc? Ive heard of cactus growers poking their cactus to increase mescaline production as a defence, but to compare that would be poking holes in the leaves and stems. Not splitting it. I've harvested outdoors, two plants pest free, one had a pest worm eating the stem. The health y pest free plants were more potent. The darkness is a little more on the believable side as darkess causes mj to flower so there is at least a connection. Do you have any info as to why?

One real problem is we cant get real scientific results. If we run a test we know which plants are which. It isnt a double blind placebo, or the exact measurements from precision equipment. The results will be very subjective

I heared that nail/knife in the stem thing before also
And also for THC, they did it so the plants thinks its deathtime so she produce more THC...

Not sure bout that, would not try that

Right before a chop I dont think it runs much of a risk of ruining something. About the best test would be with clones grown side by side. The only differences being darkness and stem splitting.

Also posting pictures wont show thc, just tricromes or other things. Tricrome production is wanted but doesnt mean more thc. THC needs trichromes bit trichromes dont need thc. There are frosty ditchweed plants with decently dense buds around here that have zero effect if you're lucky, headaches if you're not. Its almost a teenage right of passing here to think you found a good weed plant and fimd it to be nothing but feral hemp from the "Hemp for Victory" campaign. I can totally see a plant increasing the trichrome SIZE. Swelling them in a defensive way.

It ain't about juice loss or nutrient loss.

This plant is a weed , when u try to kill it , it struggles to survive and uses last power she's got , never heard of putting stress on a plant?

Im not trying to be rude but im looking for information not pseudo-science "its a weed never heard of stressing" The darkness makes sence because thc is degraded by light and the plant can carry on functions in the dark for a certain period of time. Splitting the stem . . . its not stressing its abuse. Stressing mj causes stunting, hermies, early flowering. When a good breeder wants to test for a "true female" they stress it over and over to make sure it doesnt hermi before they hit it with CS. THC isnt essential to the plant. Hemp produces little if any THC. You could stress it till you were blue in the face and it wont get you high. Also to lable weed as a weed isnt really correct. Its a cultivated, domesticated plant. The ditchweed around here . . . Is a weed.

Cannabis culture has several articles on potency, enviromental and nutrient effect on potency, theoretical reasons for mj producing THC. Im not sure about them being allowed but a sime google search for " thc production in cannabis" will pull of several reads.
