Seems that it's actually the folks against canna that is responsible for high THC levels......

From personal experience, in Iran, a case of beer, 24 x 33 cl cans cost exactly the same as 4 bottles of whiskey (of the Jonni Pedestrian shape)..... summat to do with the volume of 4 whisky bottles vs the volume of above mentioned case or slab of beer.........when moved in a Turkish truck!

Needless to say, my beer drinking suffered a bit of a drought in those days....

Its a interesting premise and to some degree is true although it is not the only reason Cannabis has gotten stronger.
I think it has more to do with the breeders trying to please the smokers.

Also a person gets more for his money (in most cases) with strong pot.
mo bang for the buck as less is needed to achieve the same effects as lesser weed

There is still the specialty low THC high cbn weed for those with the need and many low and moderate thc level strains available, with the high thc weed/strains being market driven.

I doubt all the weed back in the 60's was weak for instance wild Afghan pot is 15% THC

the dicks have been lying to us ! lol :nono: the hippies were not smoking bunk (well not all of them haha )

Quote from article -
The technical term for this is coined by the advocate for drug reform Richard Cowan — is “the iron law of prohibition.” As crackdowns on a drug become more harsh, the milder forms of that drug disappear — and the most extreme strains become most widely available.

But using that fact as an argument against legalization misrepresents what is going on. Most cannabis smokers don't want to get totally baked on super skunk, any more than most social drinkers want to get smashed on Smirnoff. But the milder stuff isn't available because the market is prohibited. - end quote

In my mind all the best of the best types of cannabis is in the hands of the old school grower and small time personal breeders. And I have a old school pure purple kush from the early 90s it's been in the family ever since and I swear it is stronger than some of this stuff at the dispensaries. Big farms produce weight not always quality and use questionable methods and chemicals. Grow your own I always say.

But it dose have some great points but when Crack hit the streets it was a cheaper high and the dealers could sell more of it more profitable. Is Crack stronger than snorting coke I don't know don't touch the shit. But it drives the need to have a drug for whatever your needs are and whatever drives the profits up and keeps you hooked people will come up with anything to do so if it means stronger pot to sell more and keep people happy then stronger cannabis it is. In this world of instant gratification if you want it or need it there is someone making it or selling it. All in the name of the all mighty dollar.
