Super Skunk Auto
Ok so ive grown the same strain twice now which is Super Skunk Auto White Label from SensiSeeds. The first grow went well, ridiculously good yeild but im certain I chopped it way to early. Not only that I dried it for four days and it smelt like hay (newbie mistakes) and then cured it.
So onto my second grow. Same strain again, another newbie mistake, I reused the soil from the first grow! Wont do this again. Anyway, turned out ok but did not get the yeild like the first time round. Nutrients used were Old Timers Grow & Bloom both grows.
This second grow I waited until I saw a few amber trichomes and chopped it. Hung it for 3 days whole. Trimmed it, then hung individual branches up to dry for a further 6 days in my grow tent, extraction on low, lights off. After this time braches snapped, so I jarred them up. To my suprise the calibrated hygrometers Rh was around 65-70% in all 6 jars! So I burped them daily and got the Rh down to an ideal 62%! They have been curing for about 11 days. Sadly though, no strong marijuana smell! I wanted to pop those lids off and be like, cooor sniff that!! But its not pungent unless I put it in a grinder, only then can I smell that lush trademark smell. So my question is, have you had jarred up weed like this that lost its smell but eventually got its aroma back after curing?? Maybe in a few more weeks it will come back?

If potent smell is not present when harvested, 'curing' will not necessarily make it "get its aroma back." Curing is done for the sake of potency and esthetics - getting rid of bad tastes/smells - not adding new odors. Curing mostly involves enzymes from fungi, bacteria and dead plant cells breaking-down/eliminating plant residues - chlorophyll and other pigments; cellular proteins; DNA/nucleotides; unwanted terpenes (from evaporation); etc. Curing may "bring out" odors already there, but it's not particularly going to add potent new smells.

You cite you "can I smell that lush trademark smell" when material is ground (and presumably eventually when consumed), so I don't see that you really have much of a problem at all. Otherwise, why do you want skunky reeking pot? Do you think it's more potent or something?

Your replies are very pricise lol. As I have only got two grows under my belt at the present time, I am still very new to this venture, but enjoying it more than I thought I would. I can see this being with me for some time to come. I seem to have a sense of pride achieving this by myself for myself, so it urges me to want to perfect it. And I do have fond memories from around 20 years ago in my 20's just chilling in the summer evenings with some good friends and good smoke, and I guess I just want that term 'bag appeal' to be there. I was gutted first time round, had my hopes set too high perhaps for a first time grow. Anyway thanks for responding ;)
