I've had them for nearly a year and they haven't given me a single issue.
Each unit has a true watt output of 160w when multi-spectrum is used.
They put off very little heat. I let my girls stretch without moving the lights once and woke up to them ON the glass shield with no harm done. It's not a good thing to do of course (i was lazy... it happens..the indicas got me), but the reassurance that you won't torch your plants is there.
The 80mm fans inside do put off some noise, but not louder than my inline exhaust fan. They are just as loud as a typical computer. You can replace them easily if that is a problem, but you may be voiding the warranty.
The plants loved the spectrum range by the led's and thrived under them, ending up really wide, bushy and leafy. During the bloom phase, the buds were fat and really sticky to the touch (the way you use your nutes gets more credit here I think, but the lights really do help..). Final product of the buds were dense along the main stem and top stems with some airy buds on the side as some is expected but I let my girls grow wild with no training whatsoever.
Trichome production was definitely increased with the added uv and ir.
Light penetration is pretty deep with the 3w high output led's being used. I would say around 18" deep when you're not cramping up your grow space. You'll get fantastic yields with lst and scrog methods.
CFLs go hand in hand with the led's in the bloom phase if you really want some more light to supplement the sides and whatnot.
The units come with 2 switches to switch the spectrums between red and blue. I usually start my girls off on blue for 2 weeks, bring in the multispectrum and finish off with red in the final weeks. Using multispectrum does help in the bloom phase, but be prepared for some more stretching than usual. Use the spectrums according to your taste and your space. It's good to have that option.
For the price, these really are a bang for your buck and imho, they are better than the blackstar 180 units but are still very similar in some ways. These have a better spectrum range and higher true watt output.
The units come with a 3 year warranty.
