So what exactly is the diffren e say between 650 actual watt cfl s a 650 hps what difference do you see with the buds using a hps?

Hey buddy!
One of the main differences is penetration, not nearly as much as HID, the lumens per watt is also lower so you're getting less light for the same power.
CFLs have their place though, great for close side lighting in tight spots! The other differences are more subtle...

Sorry been working....

As far as the buds go, the density will be higher with HID light, although if you compare HPS to MH or HPS to CFL, and all else the same, there most likely will be slightly more resin on the MH and CFL buds due to the higher uv output from them.

I am growing with a 600W HPS now but like growing with the T5. My plants can touch the light with out burning and it has good spread and coverage but it dose not penetrate or produce as dense as the HPS. Easy to burn plants with the HPS. I forgot I did not have a fan in my closet last 2 grows and killed plants both times. I forgot I used the fan for my 250W CFL :(

I like mixing spectrums with the CFL and T5s too.
