Hey folks, just made the switch from soil to DWC and I'm on my first grow, doing Auto White Widow :) My journal is here.

I've been wondering what the definitive 'ideal' temperature is for DWC. My reservoir is currently sitting at 71.3 degrees Fahrenheit and it's dropping bit by bit since I put a fan on to cool my water pump. The res temps were 74.5 degrees Fahrenheit not too long ago. I've read many different things about DWC water temperatures with the most frequent response being 'keep your water at 65-72 degrees Fahrenheit'.

I've also ordered some mylar sheeting to insulate my tub to prevent my HPS light from heating it up too much.

Is 71.3 degrees considered too warm? Will my plants be stunted at all?

Opinions will vary, but I think that's on the warm side. From my experience 68 has been my sweet spot, anything higher and I start getting slime or brown roots. If you can't get that down anymore, I'd highly recommend running a myco tea. Look at the sticky threads at the top of this hydro section.

I was hit with the rot n slim n troll snot ...the whole lot for the 1st time & it hurt mate (coulda had a big bag of pineapple SR but got 4 oz instead)...im with Jackal mate, the best way is to not have a res problem at all ever lol. If you can't keep the temps down the tea is a good 1 for sure & easy to make .but keeping the temps in check is even better. 1 week of 25-26oC was all it took for me dude :smokebuds:
