I know it sounds like a pointless question but I feed my girls from the drip trays from Week 2,when it comes to the flush do I need to flush the soil through or do I just water from the trays as usual with clean water

Wont letting it run with fresh water fully flush the soil anyway within.. Oh.. you run a timer. I run 24/7.... Yeh fully flush the system if you can.

I do not water the soil I fill my spill tray and let the roots draw from the tray.
What I would like to know is if I will get salt build up and whether I should flush the soil at 5 weeks and at finish or just wait and see if I have any problems

Your the first person I've heard of that waters that way.The roots should not be coming out the bottom of the pot in a soil grow but if it worked for you than so be it.I would still flush the last week or so to remove excess salt and nute residue.

Interesting. Never heard of anyone watering like that. What types of yields do you get? Do the plants react any differently to being fed this way?

When I chopped, I noticed that my roots had started coming out the bottom. What causes this? It was a TD in a 5 gal equivalent air pot.

I am a newbie really i have had two grows before these two the first was stunted cal-mag deficiency got about 20g the next two were in coco and I fed from the bottom ie drip tray and got 60g and 90g respectively

The roots don't come out the bottom I have a layer of clay balls at the bottom of a square 11l pot covered in either coco or soil I have the matching square spill tray I fill to the brim then leave an hour before topping up

You are basically using a wicking method to feed and water your plants.

The medium can still have quite a bit of salt build up.
I would recommend watering (straight h20) from the top at this point to assist in purging any remaining salts from the medium.
You will want approx 10-30% run off each time until chop.
You could continue the way you are, but should give it straight water for at least 14 days before chop.

Ps the pics look good

Thanks grey bear will probably start flushing the pineapple punch on Friday
