I was just wondering because i have a bottle of bb fish mix that i opened about a year ago, i used it for maybe 1 grow and then put it back on the shelf but now i'm wanting to use it again?

@Haunts :pass:
In my experience it all depends on brand and storage conditions.
I personally buy my nutes in liter or gallon sizes.
I use smaller(8oz) bottles to feed out of on the daily and refrigerate the remaining nutes.
Rule of thumb..
Organics will smell...Organic
If they smell putrid, toss them.

I'm not sure i can sniff that fish mix, i remember it stinks pretty bad already. I will be sniffing out my other nutes though because most are coming up to a year old now, they're only 1L bottles but due to my small grows i've got loads left still in each bottle. It would be a shame if they're off.

I had some roots nutes and just tossed them. They were years old and still smelled fine but stopped working. It took me a few grows to figure out why my plants looked under fed. I tried to nuke a plant last grow by over feeding it with grow and nothing happened. Usually the plant would have turned dark green and the tips would curl down at the tips. I would toss after a year with the roots but I cant say with your stuff cuz I am sure it depends from brand to brand. I don't remember when I bought this stuff. It might have been almost 3 years old.

If it's organic, you can probably dump them into a compost heap or when mixing your soil, as everything in there is usable by something in the soil biology even if it's too far gone to be useful for the plants.
