Going to try to create some seeds outdoors in a strip of trees with openings occasionally. Planning to plant 2 sister plants in 5 different locations, basically in a straight line, each of a different auto variety. Each set of 2 plants will be approximately 90 meters apart. One of the two in each set will be reversed using STS to produce female pollen. I KNOW there is a chance of getting seeds from any of the males in this area, but Im assuming that MOST of the seeds produced will be from the male closest instead of one a good distance away. Male will be about 3 feet to the NW of the female, wind here usually blows from that direction... They will all be sprayed with STS at the same time, in 2 week intervals, until pollen is produced.

Any suggestions to make this work better? Approximately what percentage of the seeds produced, in a situation like this, will be from the chosen male?

males within 10 20 meters good chance of pollination.....90 meters? probably not.

Thats what Im hoping at least... I suppose bees could cause issues, or if some start throwing pollen significantly earlier than others.

Bee's will pollenate your plant for sure, My bee's travel miles to collect pollen and nectar. Peace Bro.:goodluck:

Mother nature is a beautiful thing bro. Pollen can travel for miles whether it be from wind or animals or insects. Best bet would be to plant the females outside then get the male you want to pollinate them with inside, collect the pollen, and do it yourself. IMO that would be the best way to make sure the strains stay pure, which is what I am assuming you want to do correct?

I dont care if they are PURE pure, but id like them to be relatively. These are just for personal use in the future. If there are a few crossed seeds that show up, no biggie. All of these are good strains and Im hoping that having a male close, the majority should be what I want. Ive thought of spraying one branch and putting a baggie over it before the pollen starts flying, if thats possible. I cant really grow anything at home or close to home, or I would do males here and females out in the bush. i have discovered that doing a single branch with STS works fine, and the rest of the plant will stay female. Using something breathable, like one of those tyvek mailing envelopes, I could probably capture pollen and then self pollinate selected branches, then I wouldnt end up with 1000 seeds like if I let them open pollinate, only issue i see with that is that plants with bags on them are MUCH more noticable by anyone in the area, most people will walk right by an auto in a grassy area, without even noticing it but put a white bag on a branch and everyone will notice and investigate.... Ive also thought about snipping a branch and creating a reversed clonek, but that seems like a lot of work....
