I been looking into the paper bag method. My only concern with paper bag method is mold. But lots of ppl say it makes buds smell and taste happen faster than traditional hanging. I always hung plants but might tey the paper bag method. How do you all dry? I dry in a 4x4 vivosun tent. Portable air conditioner set to 61 degrees. Levoit humidifier set to 58. Humidifier turns off when it hits 62 rh. Humidity turns on when it dips to 53 rh. Dehumidifier set to 60 rh. And ac infinity fan set to 60 rh. I try to keep it dialed in as possible hence all the expensive equipment. I aim for a two week dry bht until 11 percent moisture content measuring with wood moisture meter. Then into grove bags after they get trimmed for ths cure.

I usually use at least two of those techniques drying most grows, and maybe all four depending on the environmental conditions.

My temp and humidity controls are quite a bit more analog than yours, but I do make use of both a dehumidifier and a humidifier depending on the season. Unless it’s just too humid for my dehumidifier to keep things in a reasonable range, which unfortunately does happen sometimes during the summer months, I always try to start my dry with 3-4 days of whole plant hanging. I like to keep the humidity between 45-50% and the temperature about 65F. The lower humidity gets me out of the mold danger zone quickly and the lower temperature helps to minimize terpene loss.

When the plant has lost most of its water weight but the buds are still spongy I start trimming. If I am not done trimming by the time the flowers start to get a little crispy I careful cut off the branches and place them in large tubs with a Caliber IV hygrometer and I aim to keep the humidity in the tubs around 70% until I am done trimming. Then I will start to slowly bring them down to 65% humidity. I keep them in tubs for most of the cure and only transfer them to jars for long term storage with Boveda 62 or 58 packs. The whole process usually takes 3-4 weeks to get them into the jars.

If it’s humid I will use a drying rack for the whole branches or buds post trimming before they go into tubs. Sometimes I will use paper bags for small plants that are harvested off the main cycle, or just to get a few buds dry a little faster so I can roll the first joint out of a new strain I am excited to try.

The plant and the season make each harvest a little different for me.
