Since posting on the possibility of HA as a foliar spray, I've been doing a lil testing....nothing scientific, just a lil spray of vegging plants now and then, selectively...
I started with about 20/1 ratio and have been giving up to about 10/1...have seen greener leaves consistantly on the dosed ones as compared to the ones I didn't spray...of course, haven't sprayed on any in flower but use in veg sure seems to giv'em a pick me up. It also permeates ya area with ammonia smell for a bit...have ramped up to spraying every other day....have seen no drawbacks, only healthier leaves...
Figured a few others here saw my earlier thread and are trying it too...just wondering if anyone has any input...it's such a cheap additive and seems to work well...Bought a gallon of HA at walmart for bout 1.29....like I said, it'll stink up ya area ya use it in...otherwise it's great at this point...no burn at 10/1...

wow... I never thought of that but it makes sense... NH4 for ammonia right? so lots of nitro..... have any pics of camparisons?

thanks for sharing this... plus rep!

Thanks JM...at one time, I took bunches of pics but haven't lately...yes, I do wish I had taken direct comparison pics........the bottle I bought is of walmart great value brand...incredients is simply ammonia hydroxide (NH3) and surfactant.....just a plan ole cleaner!.. I did note that some 2 day old seedlings and a week old seedling have shown no ill effects as far as I can tell....they're under 24/0 T5HO...haven't sprayed into my flowering tent yet.....
I have a friend who is a high end refrig tech where high pressure ammonia is used for super-cooling...where they 'release' during maintenance or otherwise, is either burned to a crisp but a lush green in the fringe areas...He grows too but hadn't considered such a simple, cheap foliar spray...he does now....
The gardening book I once used as my guide when I used it on my yard stated that once aerated onto a lawn, the ammonia becomes gas instantly and instantly absorbed by the foliage....

I remember you discussing this before and am glad you're getting good results with it. Thanks for letting us know. I may just have to give this a try. I start my plants in straight Pro Mix and it doesn't have enough N in it's starter mix. I've been adding blood meal but it takes too long to be available. This sounds like a good solution.

I picked up some ammonia at the beginning of the week, mixed at the suggested 10:1 ratio and have been giving them a daily spritz for the past 4 days. I can see a marked difference in my plants. They were starting to get a little pale from a lack of N but now they are greening up nicely and growing well.

This makes so much sense. It's hard to imagine why more people haven't been doing it. +rep AutoMan
