i have been trying to make my own soil---i used 40 lb cow compost,2 bags of perlite,2 cups of blood and bone meal,2 dozen eggshells baked and crushed,i/4 cup coffee grounds,.after letting it sit for 3 or so weeks and turning soil daily i tried to put a few bagseed in it to see what happened.the soil stays way to moist and if i tear soil apart i find mold.what do i need to do to salvage this?

i had mold on top the last time i made the soil, i just scraped it off and used uv light to kill the spores, and it was grand for the rest of the grow, this time i washed the egg shells first then baked them am ready to use it today, it is light and fluffy and no mold, didnt have cow compost so used peat instead, im not sure what to do now, try to pm full duplix or muddy, they may be able to help:)

you dont want to be planting any beans dirctly into that. where did you get the recipe or is it a make it up as you go along? I havnt used cow compost, but I can tell you that the perlite wont do any good in your compost bin (if you need to add it you should add it when your potting up.), but with organic compost you dont really need perlite. I could be wrong here, but I belive (was taught) that you need to leave the pile to cook, you can turn it once a week and it will compost more evenly and faster but if your constantly turning the pile it wont have a chance to cook properly.

are u useing full duplix soil mix cause thats where i got my info for the mix??

You are getting mold because there isn't enough oxygen getting to the inner parts of the compost. You will probably need more perlite. Or some thing else as a base, then add your cow compost to it.
Straight composted cow manure is pretty hot still. When i use manure I only add a few cups to my mix.

Here is a post I made with a couple videos about compost and teas. The one is kinda dry but it's informative.
