I have 2x Purple Kush and 2x White Widows that have all popped and will be ready to go into their 3g pots tonight. Does anyone have experience with the HLG boards and could recommend a good starting height for the lights? It’s a solo HLG 260 QB v1. Thanks for any info!

I have just gone through this with my single QB288(HLG135)

Research told me 24 to 30 inches and adjust as needed.

I ended up starting at 24 and after some experimenting I believe I settled up closer to 30 inches.

Now my girls are a couple weeks old I am experimenting with lowering again as soon as I get my LST started the way I want.

Thanks for the reply. I think I’ll be in the same boat. I didn’t mention my setup but it’s a 3x3 with the HLG 260. I’ll start it out at 30 and work my way up or down.
So now my new question... At what point in the seedling life do you notice indicators to move the light, and what are those indicators?

Light burn and heat stress...

Yellowing of leaves and or curling up of the edges of the leaves.

These signs/indicators that are mentioned will unfortunately show up after the damage is already done...

If the light is too high, the seedlings will start to stretch in attempt to get closer to the light. If it's too close, the leaves will droop downward like they do when they are under watered. You will also want to consider dimming the wattage down to 135 or so.. 260w in a 3x3 with only seedlings growing is a lot of light. You can technically hand your light at what ever height you like and then simply dim the wattage down. I run about 275w in a 3x3x7 when the tent is full and flowering.
