I am looking to run a few dirt plants along side DWC for some added taste, though most formulas for ammended soil are asking for bat guano amongst other products that arent available internationally.

I was wondering if anyone out there has any soil formula's that have basic components available everywhere...

eg. Im not after Fox Farm as a component, because over here you may as well have asked me to find a pubic hair from a Unicorn...

Greensand, dolomite lime, perlite, chicken/cow/sheep manures, worm castings, blood meal, bone meal, kelp meal... we arent hard done by here and they are easily available.

Soil has never been my strong point... anyone care to share?

Thankyou in advance.

My personal choice would be worm castings, but any of the manures you mentioned would also be good, as long as they are properly composted. Can you get your hands on a basic peat mix? Something with just sphagnum peat moss, perlite and maybe lime? Mix in about 25% worm castings, some epsom salts and some kelp and you're good to go. Blood and bone meal are also good in small amounts.

I assume you're growing indoors? If so, make sure those manures are sterilized or do it yourself. You don't need to be bringing any pests in with the manure.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I live down under, so almost everything is available, well as long as its made here... our border control is pretty crazy, though we still have bees, and no rabies, so its not all bad.

Any tips on sterilizing the manures?

My apologies for being a pest.... I just dont want to kill my first Auto's, a solid and stable soil mix will keep my heavy feeding hydro hands away until I can change my way of thinking.

Thanks RSV. While scouring the threads for soil mixes, I totally forgot to lookback at that thread.... cheers

the mix is too hot for direct planting
seed to soil.
seeds should be started in un-ferted
seedling soil

Thankyou again RSV, though a question is it 3 cups each of the blood and bone meal, or 3 cups all up?

I shouldnt leave out FullDuplex when thanking people... legend.
