alright guys so I have a space of 2x2x5 for my grow box and I have been researching led lighting for hours. I have come up with a few different lights, but I can't make a decision. I am going to be growing in a 5 gal DWC bucket. I am just aiming to get around at least 3oz every 2-3 months. I have looked at a few of seymore buds grows and found the strain Think Different to be a great yielder. I really just want to be able to supply for my self and have a constant stash. If you guys could help me make a decision on lighting it would be helpful. Below are some of the led fixtures I have been looking at. I dont really have a budget, I just want to find the perfect light for my needs. Here are some of the lights I was looking at.

Blackstar chrome:

If anyone knows which is the best buy for my space that would be great. Any help on this would be great guys.

Just my opinion here, but Blackstar Blackstar Blackstar. It would be perfect for that space. Good luck mate. :D

It seems like blackstar is a good led, but I have yet to hear anything about their new chrome lights. I was a little unsure about their coverage claims, do you think the 180w chrome would be enough light to achieve a 3oz yield from one plant with DWC? Are 5w leds really better than 3w leds? The solarflare are 5w leds where as the blackstar and hydrogrow are 3w.

The Blackstar Chrome would be a perfect fit for that size tent, as it's core penetration matches the tent size. They are still relatively new, which is why you've probably not heard a lot about them yet. I've been using two of their 240 watters for awhile now and am very satisfied.

Stay away from hydrogrowled. The owner is a know scam artist. Just google LED Girl and you'll find the whole story.

Thanks for informing me muddy. I will stay away from HydroGrowLED now. For anyone unaware of the scams behind the company here is a link.

I have narrowed it down to the solar flare and blackstar chrome. haven't been able to find much on pro grow LEDs, but they seem somewhat legit. I have heard advanced LEDs 10w chips don't actually put out 10w. Im going to continue researching until i find which light is the best. Any more input would be fantastic and anything to note about the lights heat, distance from canopy, penetration, efficiency, etc.

None of the LEDs in use today, no matter what wattage, are driven at 100%. Running them at full power greatly shortens their life. The Blackstar 240 watt panels only use about 135 or 140 actual watts of power, so they are only being driven at about 60%. They raise the ambient temps in by grow areas by about 5 degrees. Most 3 watt panels will give good penetration to about 36", more than enough for dwarf auto strains. I generally run mine at about 18-24" above the canopy top during veg, then lower them to about 12" during flowering. Some of the newer, more powerful units have bleached some upper leaves at those heights, so where you set yours will depend on which unit you buy. I would inquire of the manufacturer as to what they recommend for their lights.
