My Godberry beans just sprouted today. I am using the tiered method to start them. I have them in party cups inside a humidity dome. Does the humidity dome need any extra water added to it or should I let the humidity come from the water from the soil in the cups. The cups were fully saturated when I placed the seeds in them. I figured the heat mat would help them dry faster. I figured out that I have been overwatering and I don't want to kill my new babes the same way I've killed a few already. I was letting my soil dry out good after I watered but I had small plants in large containers and the water was not drying fast enough.

id remove the humidity dome unless youre growing in very low humidity imo. once they sprout they dont really need it. itll help dry out your cup a bit quicker too

I would say no. The humidity will rise and form on the inside on the dome. Then you'll know that you have good humidity too. Just my :2cents:

I could probably use a little extra humidity. It stays around 30-33. I bought a cheap humidifier from walmart but my fan sucks it out of the room before it can build up.

Dude, I'm only a newbie so I can only tell you from my one and only experience and from the hours upon hours of reading I've done. I wouldn't worry too much about low humidity, as long as the rest of your environment is good with a good flow of fresh air. On my grow I had less than 30% RH (my meter didn't go any lower so I don't actually know how low it was) and I panicked like a madman but everyone told me to chill out and not to bother with a humidifier because (as you've found out) the fan will just suck it straight out. You'll be glad of the lower humidity when your girls are flowering, I'm 8 weeks in and my RH is around 45% lights on, 55% light off. I tried wet towels and all that crap for a bit but it didn't really help.

If I've misadvised you, I'm sure someone will be along to tell me to beep off...

Iffin you felt like it....
You could go to Walmart and pick up a timer or two and a multi-outlet strip or two(with a 1 foot power cord...cheap one) and set your lights and fan to go off at the same time. Then use the other one to turn on your humidifier during the sleep period. At least you would get some good humidity for four hours. You will only need the humidity for the first 3 weeks or so.

You might also think about putting a variable speed controller on your fan. In most cases, unless you're dealing with a lot of heat from the lights, the fan can run at a lower speed, enough to change the air periodically, and not suck the humidity out as fast.
